Excellent start

Wonderful pacing and progression with a likable MC and solid system. It’s a great story and the narrator does a great job delivering it. This series has the potential for greatness.

Old formula but still engaging

It’s easy to get jaded and dismiss the tried and true littpg formula. That would be a loss for this book. The mc was great. He was vulnerable enough to be relatable but advanced through grit and toughness. All in all an enjoyable listen

I want to love it...

I love everything besides the Rosalyn bit. Even when Karra tried to help him he still goes knowing full well she's trying to catch him. Was just unrealistic.

Great story with interesting take on skill acquisition

The story starts out topically, but take a decent turn, not every fight is a fight to the death that unlocks new skills, and the premise is pretty good leaving a few openings to the future.

The only comment I would have is that he “clicks” to often, connecting data that, for me at least, didn’t seem to connect. It doesn’t deminish the story imo, so I still gave it a 5 star.

Can’t wait for the next book to drop!

Ike's unique view his world was always evolving as he learned

I liked that the people that actually trained him to use his skills were actually monsters. The world was emersive and built well. although it ended abruptly I guess it's the writers way of making sure you buy the next book ...can't wait till it comes out I'm definitely going to buy it.
