DI Fiona Williams returns from a romantic week away with Stefan to walk into the most harrowing crime scene of her career. A gunman walked into a house of students and shot five of them but left one girl unharmed.

With no other leads, Fiona focuses on the traumatised survivor.
If she is an innocent witness, then why was she spared?
Her cold indifference to the fate of her housemates could be a defence mechanism. Or could she be responsible? There was friction in the house and a motive, but the forensic evidence is inconclusive.
Conflicting reports, dead ends, further deaths, and a press demanding answers take their toll on Fiona and her team.
Have they been asking all the wrong questions in the wrong places?

The performance was flat and hideous, like a chocolate cake with no sugar and no chocolate flavor. Had less expression than an annual report from a company that manufactures door knobs.

A good story ruined by modern technology.

I think the storyline could’ve been great, but I wasn’t able to listen to the entire book. The virtual voice was very monotone and made it difficult to follow and annoying to listen to, so I had to finally stop halfway through and find another book that was not a virtual voice.
