Eat Pray Love meets American Psycho in a seductive and sinister debut literary thriller.

A man-eating journey of self-discovery
"Based on the promotional pitch for this new Audible Original—"Eat Pray Love meets American Psycho"—A Certain Hunger could have been written just for me. But so loud was the collective gasp in the room when the project was announced, it’s clear a lot of us were hungry for the story of a female cannibal on a self-actualizing voyage of homicidal hedonism. Chelsea G. Summers’s debut novel follows food writer Dorothy Daniels—the epicurean lovechild of Elizabeth Báthory and the vampire Lestat, if they were fluent in New York media and wrote Nabokovian prose—on a lascivious romp from the cocktail bars of Manhattan to the truffle-hiding hills of Italy. Somewhere along the way, she’s landed herself in prison; perhaps it has to do with her (literal) taste in men? Provocative and very funny, A Certain Hunger is narrated by veteran performer Hillary Huber—just the right icing for this bloody, decadent cake."

Truly compelling, funny, outrageous and clever. I loved it. Summers' prose style is just excellent. A great listen and will make for a great read, too!

Every provocative second of this expertly written and engaging book is worth your time. The twists and turns are so much fun and the main character, Dorothy Daniels, is both likable and repulsive. The combination makes for a fascinating story that you cannot stop listening to. I finished this book in record time having several moments where I needed to be somewhere, but the book was so good I just kept listening.... I would 100% watch a movie based on this book!

Absolutely DELICIOUS!

The story itself was an interesting combination of snobbery, female fatale, and cannibalism. As a fan of the Hannibal Lector series I was delighted to find another book mixing fine dining with cannibalism.

The narrator did a perfect job of performing the over embellished (often pretentious) language of Chelsea Summers.

Despite this, the bad reviews aren’t wrong. This book is very raunchy in a very tedious way. Add the endless metaphors on top of it, and it became exhausting at some points.

Raunchy, snobby, & altogether interesting

To say I loved Dolls is an understatement. This read was validating, refreshing, sexy and honest. As a fan of true crime, erotica novels, psychology and food, this book is bible. Recommending this to all the ladies in my circle.
