Irina obsessively takes explicit photographs of the average-looking men she persuades to model for her, scouted from the streets of Newcastle. Placed on sabbatical from her dead-end bar job, she is offered an exhibition at a fashionable London gallery, promising to revive her career in the art world and offering an escape from her rut of drugs, alcohol and extreme cinema.

The news triggers a self-destructive tailspin, centred around Irina's relationship with her obsessive best friend and a shy young man from her local supermarket who has attracted her attention....

Boy Parts is the incendiary debut novel from Eliza Clark, a pitch-black comedy both shocking and hilarious, fearlessly exploring the taboo regions of sexuality and gender roles in the 21st century.

Vocal performance is excellent, and the book is well written. It takes from American Psycho, but I enjoy the feminist outlook and graphic scenes. You will hate the character, but you will also be mesmerized by her anger and callousness. The descent into madness with no consequences is entertaining. It's worth the listen.

It feels like a feminist take on American Psycho

I liked this a lot, amazing reader but felt like the story was gonna focus on several longstanding relationships and that she wasn’t gonna sleep with them. Her relationship with Eddie from Tesco seemed nonsensical to me

Good not great, felt Irina’s character escalated so quickly

The main character is unlikable, unreliable, and spiraling. She manipulates and abuses everyone around her, yet she captivates / traps people in her web, just like you'll be captivated when listening to this story. At times the narrator annoyed me with the high pitched voices but overall it was an entertaining listen. At times it felt repetative with the whole drug/alcohol binges and what not. At the end, I felt that we really don't know what's true in the entire narrative, because it seems like she fell off the deep end before the story even starts. I don't know if that makes sense, but overall I liked it!

spiraling character, manipulator, self destructive

As someone who has spent more than a healthy amount of time around narcissists this book does a very good job of peering into the mind of one but also how they can continually hurt the people in their lives but never face any consequences. This was difficult to read if you have experienced narcissistic abuse but really really good and raw. Highly recommend at your own risk

A modern American psycho but British

I love a good antihero. This book was seriously just great. The imagery. The narrator. The subject matter. The dark humor. I loved every second of it and I can’t wait for more from this author.

I really enjoyed this book
