The story itself was really good. I don't understand when people complain about a MC who is growing. The guy is new to the world he finds himself in, but has a sharp mind when he has time to really apply it. He's new to magic and is going to make mistakes, even obvious ones, but that's what makes a great character. We get to watch him grow and learn, all while doing his best. A story very well thought out.

The narration left a lot of room for improvement. There were very obvious points at which narration had stopped and then picked up again. Very distracting as even the pace and inflection changed. If the story hadn't been so compelling, the narrator would have caused me to reconsider even continuing the series. Yet despite the narration, I will continue as I want to know what happens next.

Great listen, mostly.

I got this book from the author, and I’m giving an honest review. He didn't ask for one, but I'm giving it.

It's not perfect, but it's enjoyable, and I never felt like I needed to take a break from it.

Not the type of Gamelit I usually read or listen to but good none the less. It's set up in an interesting way and has a decent amount of character building although not very much world building. The narrator did a fantastic job as well. The audiobook is short and good for an overnight listen and getting introduced so some of the characters I look forward to finding out more about them in future books. I don't think I've read anything with a similar magic system before the closest I can think of being the one used in The Irregular at Magic High School though the main character is far from over powered and it's still clearly being developed. Overall Its got a lot of potential and I feel like it would be a good pitch for a tv series or an anime besides just being a book. If you want a different type of Gamelit that isn't flooded with stats and items and is just more magic and life focused give this a try.

I can't say enough about how much I love this story. The characters are quite relatable and I keep finding myself wanting more I loathe every time I have to pause and go do something else. My only complaint would be this book is only 6 hours long. I can't wait to start book 2!

For a more general understanding this book reminded me of an anime in book form. The kind a lovable hero goes off to do his daily job. Get's incredibly lucky and finds himself the center of attention which to me is a good thing. NO HAREMS or similar aspects just good old fun and adventure!

What if life was an RPG?
