Lots of mystery, action, very intense suspense,...

...and a bit of romance. Author Kendra Elliot has another big winner in her Mercy Kilpatrick series. Oh, there is also the great narration.

Solid series

Well done police procedural series with with interesting characters. Mystery-romance. Background in Oregon with preppers.

Narration Was Ok

I thought the last several chapters of this book were the best. They were the most suspenseful part of the book.

I wasn't expecting the mild supernatural, paranormal, etc. aspect of the book. I am not quite sure what to call it as it involved witches and spells.

The killer wasn't completely surprising, but some of the secrets that came to light were enlightening as to the motive.

I listened to the audiobook. The narration was ok. There were a couple of times when I had to rewind because the voice of the narrator lulled me into a space where I stopped paying attention.

Painful to see how one parent can manipulate a child by their hate of their spouse

I was so intrigued by the differences of a prepper mindset through 3 different generations. I loved the visualization of strands connecting soulmates.

Love creates family out of those who are not kin. Neighbors help each other, keep each others secrets and encourage growth within a true community. Adultery vs clean relationship. Wicca serving created things vs serving Creator. Even Cain and Abel style relationships. Definitely worth the read
