The second book in I. A. Takerian's high-fantasy series takes us on a perilous journey through The Trials, readying our War Party to fight for the fates of all.

The world of Zenafrost is burning. Darkness has overtaken the lands, corrupting everything it touches. After discovering the truth of her birth, Mara—Princess of Delinval, daughter of the Dread Queen, prophesied bringer of the dawn—has no time to sift through the rubble of her former life. Not with the salvation of the world resting upon her shoulders.

By sheer luck and the help of her allies, Mara has somehow managed to survive the first Trial of the Odelians. Now, as she moves into the dangers of the Trials to come, she must stand beside warriors with centuries of training and skill in powerful magicks. But with Cyfrin, Kain, Milios, and El to guide her, she remains determined to prove herself worthy to fight among them. Evil, however, refuses to wait until the Dawnbringer is prepared for battle. Shadows loom ever closer to the Forgotten Wood, and death rides in on swift wings. When nightmares become reality, Mara's confidence falters.

Is she truly fit to lead the charge into the dawn?

Contains mature themes.

Writing is superb, flowing so well it’s hard to find a stopping point at bedtime-I read all night. Story is new, fresh; characters are well developed; plot has great rises and details have meaning. IA Takerian is comparable, even better than the big names in this genre.

New, little known author I.A. Takerian took me by storm! Amazing!

Nothing to dislike... well written. I loved how the princess is gently brought back into awareness by her people. How the love story unfolds... agonizingly slow burn..

The character development was great... epic love story.

The writing, the plot, the slow burn, trials turning into quests… plot twists… everything in this book was perfect! The narration was absolutely stellar!

This book is amazing

I like this series my only issues are the narrator sounds too old for a 21 yr old and there’s no detail about what’s happening with the evil king. Like she’s gone for months growing and learning but we don’t get any insight into what’s happening back at the kingdom which imo would have made this a 5star read for me. I love that it’s all plot with very little flirting or romance. I’ll probably continue the series but hopefully we get more war action in the next book

Pretty good

I thought the performance was excellent, I really loved how she brought the characters and the story to life. I really did enjoy how this book seemed to be focused on character growth and learning. It’s well set up for the next book and I’m excited to see how the story continues!

Excited to see where this goes next!
