Hunter

Rules are meant to be broken. Except for one: Women can't get enough peonies. Even the girl in front of me in line is admiring the peonies in my hand.

While I need these particular flowers for my latest plot, I'll still give Meghan the biggest, thickest bouquet I can find.

It's flattering how much she wants my peonies. And I don't mind personally delivering.

Meghan

I love rules. They make life simple.

One rule I have for my future boyfriend? Fresh flowers every week.

The hot guy behind me in line had a gorgeous bouquet. He was perfect boyfriend material....

Until Mr. Perfect broke the unwritten rule of New York City lunch hour and found a devious way to cut the line.

He took my spot, making me late for a meeting and then had the audacity to hand me his peonies as he waltzed out with what should have been my sandwich!

A wink and flowers from a handsome guy won't fix my disaster of a life.

My career as a lawyer is failing before it even started.

I live in a tiny, crumbling apartment.

I have to deal with my obnoxious supervisor who seems intent on taking Hunter's peonies for herself.

Except that his peonies (and other flowers) are mine.

They were delivered to my desk at work!

Bouquet aside, Hunter breaks all my rules. I know I should ignore him. I know it's going to be an epic disaster. But when he shows up at my door shirtless, with another excessive bouquet, well, I have to say screw the rules; I want his peonies and the rest of him too!

This fun, 40,000-word prequel is the kickoff to my new romantic comedy series about the Svensson Brothers! This rom-com features a boiling hot romance, the largest selection of hot brothers you've known, and a heroine prone to making sexually suggestive comments!

Billionaire/wanna be lawyer, rule breaker vs rule follower, miscommunication, and hot spice.

Hunter and Meg will not get their HEA until book 7 in the series, but you will see their history/relationship progress through the other books.

It does end in a cliffhanger!

I listened to the audiobook of this, and loved it! I think that hearing the voices gives you so much more as a reader. You really can feel the emotions. You connect much quicker to the characters as well. These narrators were top notch.

Prequel to the series but cute to read on its own as well.

Billionaire/wanna be lawyer, prequel

Each of the books in these series are quite good. However, the reader is left hanging at the end of the book. Very frustrating to have this happen book after book.

Really need an ending to each book

I originally read this story on my kindle and LOVED it.

I just finished the audio version on audible and it took me a few chapters to get into Meghan's character. In fact, before writing this review, I went and heard it one more time to make sure it wasn't me being off because I couldn't put my Kindle down when I originally read this book. It was so good, I recommended it to family and friends.

However, in the audible version, it seems to take the narrator a few chapters of Meghan's character for me to really get into the audio version of this book.

The male narrator hit it out of the park.

All in all, I do recommend the book though. Whether audio or reading on your own, that's up to you, but don't miss out. It is a great read and the situation the characters are in, especially the Svensson's brothers, is unique in its own way.

Enjoy!

Great Story

I feel Ike the attempt at a cliff hanger is disappointing at best. The story is decent but then nothing.

An ending would be nice

After His Peonies audio also includes two short stories continuing Hunter and Meg's story. Be warned, there is no resolution here.
This is ostensibly a prequel.

Unfortunately Meg is not the forgiving type and devolves into a mostly unlikeable character.
In After His Peonies, there is fun banter, connection and spice. Hunter and Meg are good together. You believe they will be able to work through and get past Hunter's implied subterfuge. That Meg will give him a chance to explain. But she is too easily manipulated.
The next two short stories span three years where Meg becomes somewhat bitter and hardened against Hunter.
She is unable to accept his many apologies, even when he gets on his knees and begs. The person she turns herself into does not deserve him, in my opinion.
Hunter has moments where he reverts to arrogance which puts him back to square one time and again.

Their story will take years to resolve through multiple stories which are not included in this audio book.
You need to listen to and/or read After Her Flower Petals to get the conclusion of their story. There are a couple more short stories for Hunter and Meg after this one.

The voice audio is well done. I loved both of performers who brought Hunter and Meg to audio life.

Overall I found the story supremely frustrating but the audio performance well done.

I was provided and ARC of the audio book in exchange for an honest opinion.

Too Many Games and No Resolution
