Great story, not so great vocals

The premise, about an hour into it, seems to be really interesting. Although I’m not certain how the genetics actually works there - like, how are there *any* full-blooded vamps? Or are there not any? It’s confusing.
But this (male) narration voice is just terrible. It would have been a little better, I think, if they did a male and female voice, since there are chapters from the male character and female character. (Future of virtual voice?) Because the voice has no depth, it makes the female POV chapters even more discordant.
I will likely go read the actual book since this is difficult to follow with the VV, and the premise has my attention.
The virtual voice was awful

The story itself is interesting though. I find it fairly original and the world built within is easy to visualize.
The story itself is really good and catching
