Playful and Funny

This was my favorite of the P&P variations I’ve read so far. It took a familiar trope, packed it with beloved characters, and went on a fun adventure. The almost spoof style allowed for some witty, laugh out loud bits. It adhered to the original characters for some more than others—all within an acceptable range by my standards. Very enjoyable.

Conflicted about this Vagary - Pros and Cons

The description for this book is pretty accurate although I would say the farcical elements are at times forced and ham-handed and silly. I almost quit the book within the first hour thinking the Compromise scene too Stooopid - silly and awkward - and showing Elizabeth as way too ignorant for a country girl and Darcy as Way More Experienced than JA’s characters. But I continued to listen to see if the story would improve - and it did, but there was a lot of sexual innuendo (and longing as well as trysts) which I could have done without. The story is well developed. The writing is well done and the dialogue is well-written (despite all the innuendo etc). Some scenes are very funny. One of the best characters is Mr Hurst. The Virtual Voice is better than some, but there are a lot of mispronunciations. I quite like several of this authors other books, but this one …. I am conflicted.

It’s so entertaining you don’t mind that the story could be resolved more quickly. Good and despite length goes fast.

Hilarious Farce

I loved listening to this audio book. It made me laugh out loud several times. I’m going to listen to it again.
