She has everything—except the one man she cannot forget.

It’s been a year since Elizabeth Bennet refused Mr Darcy at Hunsford—and everything has changed.

When Elizabeth Bennet inherits a fortune, it turns her world upside down.
She’s no longer just clever—she’s desirable. The same society that once dismissed her now welcomes her with open arms, eager to claim a piece of her newfound wealth. Navigating ballrooms and whispered intrigues is one thing.

Facing Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy again? Quite another.

Darcy regrets the pride that once cost him her regard. Elizabeth is determined not to be won over by charm, regret, or his sudden interest now that her fortune gives her power she never had before.

But as scandal brews, secrets unravel, and reputations teeter, Elizabeth must ask herself the one question she never thought she’d have to:
Can she believe that Darcy wants her—and not just the woman she’s become?

Fortune’s Folly is a bold, emotionally rich reimagining of Pride and Prejudice, full of sharp wit, second chances, and a heroine who refuses to be anyone’s prize.

I think the story was good. But maybe the voice took away from it too much for me to enjoy. The reading did not match certain emotions nor characters.

Did not enjoy the AI voice.

I thought the story was interesting and fun. I have no complaints about the author’s work. But I won’t listen to a virtual voice narration again. It didn’t produce the range of emotion that I’m accustomed to when listening to human narrators. Furthermore, I do not support replacing humans with computers. Especially in the area of artistic endeavors.

Virtual Voice Narration.

I'm pretty even on VV, find the right speed and it is perfectly acceptable. What pulled me out of the story is the inconsistencies of the narrative. JAFF assumes om our mutual understanding of the underlying story and its significant plot points. When enjoying a fic, those plot points are the frame of the story where the new narrative diverges and explores something different. This story cannot seem to make up it's mind about what happened at Rosings. It violently removes me from enjoying the story. This is a DNF for me. I'm disappointed cause the premise and characterizations to this point are interesting. But my brain is in an uproar, so I have to walk away. I'm willing to give the author another chance on some other story.

VV Does not bother me, but inconsistent narrative does

This was a good story - true to canon, though this Darcy was easier than most. The machine narration was better than others I have heard, but it’s still flat. There is almost no differentiation between the characters, and the expression of emotions is barely there. I understand the economics of these mechanical narrations, but they are consistently disappointing.

Excellent Variation, Wishing for Live Narration
