It’s been over six months since the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano. Alex and Darla have been staying with Alex’s relatives, trying to cope with the new reality of the primitive world so vividly portrayed in Ashfall, the first book in this trilogy.

It’s also been six months of waiting for Alex’s parents to return from Iowa. Alex and Darla decide they can wait no longer and must retrace their journey into Iowa to find and bring back Alex’s parents to the tenuous safety of Illinois.

But the landscape they cross is even more perilous than before, with life-and-death battles for food and power between the remaining communities. When the unthinkable happens, Alex must find new reserves of strength and determination to survive.

im enjoying the story, finished the first book and am aboit halfway through this one, the narration is fine, but not as good as the previous book. the main thing that i dont like about the story is the MCs inability for critical thinking, **SPOILER**

why waste time at the guard shack and get caught, why have all your supplies in one basket and not spread across the bike, and two backpacks or something, why stand up and get darla shot? After more than a year of this hell, anybody this oblivious to dangerous situations would have already been dead. other than that im enjoying the series, obviously enough that even though some bits annoy me im still going back to listen to it on my breaks at work.

pretty good story, poor narration

Poor narration. Story was ok. It does not make me want to read the 3rd book in the series.

Poor narration

the narrator on the first book was amazing. having the author narration on the second made it hard to get back into, the story is amazing, we absolutely love this series, just wish they kept the amazing narrator all the way through instead of switching to the monotone author for the rest of the series

amazing story, flat narration

Obviously I enjoy the series as I purchased volume number two. However the narration made this enjoyable story a painful listening experience. I only continued to the end because I enjoy the story. In my opinion it was a huge mistake to change narrators. I truly want to continue with volume three but after listening to this I will most certainly need to think about it. this book wasn’t being offered freely. The author is asking fans to purchase this book. I truly can’t understand why you would narrate this book and not leave it to the professionals.

Painful narration!

Love the story but this will be the last of the authors audiobooks I’ll be purchasing if the author decides to narrate again. Awful …..☹️

Great story BUT…..
