A Dark Romance Made Even Better in Audio

Back in the Shadows was a dark, emotional, and twist-filled continuation that kept me hooked from start to finish. The story itself was a solid 4 stars for me, intense, addictive, and full of suspense. But the audiobook narration was absolute perfection. The narrators brought so much depth and emotion to the characters that it made the entire experience even more powerful. Highly recommend listening to this one if you love your dark romance with amazing voice performances!

Death

Was not expecting a 2nd book! Now I know there's a 3rd coming! Can't wait!!

Good but still disappointed

I absolutely loved book one and have recommended it many many times so I was really excited to start this one. I started this book on audible only and it kind of fell flat for me. The narrators were fine, I’m not a huge fan of the male narrators reading the female parts and visa versa, and prefer duets but it didn’t make or break this book. I feel like this story got drawn out at times and there wasn’t a ton of action. By the last 20% of the book I was kind of over the story but held on because I was sure there had to be a twist coming. Well..there IS a twist but we don’t know who it is. Who is the Pied Piper? He whisper to Ella and it’s like altering but we don’t find out? Then the last bit with her old pal Jameson seems added just for a “wow” factor and even that wasn’t a thrill for me because I was annoyed with the rest of the book. Maybe if I physically read this as I did book 1 I’d feel different but this was just a disappointment for me after the first one. Is there a book 3 where we actually learn more? Maybe, and I haven’t looked further..but if there’s not, we’re going to need one ASAP.

Sebastian, Ella & Death

Geeezus! I enjoyed book 1, but book 2 took diabolical to another fabulous level. I enjoyed Death much more in this book, whereas, in book 1, Bass was my fav. Also. Cami & her self righteousness got on my nerves a bit in this book, but I cracked up at the end when Death told them to eff it out of themselves. I’m looking forward to Kip’s story, but mostly to get the resolution with the Pied Piper storyline. I purchased the audio book and it was fantastic. The narrators brought the characters to life with their voices.
