You can’t break a girl who already clawed her way out of the crypt.

I came to the House of Night broken, barely breathing, barely me.

Now I’m waiting in the crypts for the events that will change everything.

First, The Baron Hunt.

And, second, my arranged marriage to the King.

I spent my youth being groomed under the watchful eye of my uncle, preparing for the day I united our families. My uncle wants to be tied to Royalty. The Baron King? He wants more than a bride.

He wants secrets.

I know first hand that something is deeply wrong beneath the foundation of Forsyth, beneath the shiny rituals and punishing ceremonies. Neither have done anything to find the missing girls.

The King wants loyalty.
Damon wants control, exerting it with his needles and pins
Hunter stands in the shadows, quietly waiting and watching.

They all want something from me: My obedience. My purity. My silence.

I’m willing to give them whatever they want, be whatever they want, Baroness, wife, or both as long as death never touches me again.

Barons of Decay is the first book in the Barons series and book 10 overall in the contemporary, dark, reverse harem, traumatic romance world of the Royals of Forsyth U. Please refer to the foreword for all content information and details.

I am only 9 chapters in and something feels different in the writing. I have listened to all the other Books of this series multiple times. This has a very different feel to it. I am so far not a huge fan. I am a fan of the male narrator, but the woman's voice is extremely whiny and annoying to me. All the other voices ( Lady, Duchess, and Princess) all had strong powerful women voices behind them, this one is far from it. I will continue to listen to it, I will adjust the rating if need be when I'm done.

meh.

The female narrator is very child like and I can’t decide if it’s supposed to fit the story or if it’s just the narrator. Either way, I’m not a fan

The female narrator.

I really enjoyed books 1-9, but this book, #10, is very different. It's confusing and slow moving. I can't stand the female narration, she doesn't sound mentally disturbed, she just sounds high. And the odd phrasing is annoying. I almost DNF. I like the male narrator, but not for this character. The entire narration is overly dramatic; I did a lot of eye rolling.

I'm sorry, Angel, I can't recommend this book.

I love a good dark and dirty romance but this story wasn’t for me. I couldn’t get into it. I even sped up the narrations and still felt like it was extremely drawn out and the story just didn’t engage me at all I like the concept of the story line but the writing just was a miss. Narration was good and not so good for me. I enjoyed the male voice but the girl’s voice was alot for me. She has a weird cadence that didn’t fit alot of the story. It was great when she was having a manic moment but a full length novel of it was a lot.

Not for me

while I get having to explain that the main character had a fractured mind, I think the whilliam shattner esk narrative was well over the top! in fact it was distracting. Hard to focus on the story. so far this is my only complaint in the whole series and I feel bad for leaving a bad review due to the narration.

love the book. hated the narrator
