She’s the mayor-to-be’s perfect daughter. He’s the ruthless villain set to ruin her.
I’ve spent my life putting others first. So when my father runs for New York City mayor—on a promise to take down the city’s most notorious crime family—I do what I always do: push my own dreams aside to help him win.
Until I wind up at the wrong party. Trapped in a bedroom with Romolo Ferraro—the dangerous, merciless youngest son of the man my father has sworn to destroy.
He terrifies me. He fascinates me. Six foot four and covered in tattoos, he’s everything I should avoid.
When he starts pursuing me, I know I’m just a pawn in his game. A means to an end. And yet… part of me wants to play along.
I tell myself it’s to protect my father’s campaign. But I’m not thinking about politics when Romolo’s rough hands slide over my skin, teaching me how good it feels to burn.
They say good girls don’t fall for the villain.
But maybe, I’m tired of being good.

It’s the first in the Ferraro Brothers series, and I already know I’m hooked.
The narration in duet is outstanding. Vanessa Vasquez and Gabriel Spires are new-to-me narrators, but I’ll pay attention to listen to more of them.
Gabriel as Romolo? Perfection. He’s got that mix of danger and vulnerability in his voice, and, sorry, but his moans? Yep. No notes.
Tropes:
Forbidden romance (family at war),
Mafia,
Obsessed MMC,
Good girl/Bad boy
Content Warning:
Violence,
Gaslighting,
Emotional abuse,
Child neglect,
Sexual assault (MMC)
Please, make room for the new morally grey mafia husband of 2026: Romolo Ferraro. The youngest Ferraro brother, he’s the family’s weapon, charming when he needs to be, ruthless when he doesn’t. He’s as broken as he is devoted.
Mia Morales is the good girl who’s done being good. Done being a side character in her life. She felt so real to me; it was so satisfying to see her rise.
The tension between Rom and Mia is palpable. Literally.
They shouldn’t work. Their families are enemies. Their worlds are incompatible. And yet, they can’t stay away.
This book is a quick and addictive read, a love story as intense as it is tender. Slow burn, but fast enough pace.
The spice? Steamy and on another level.
Thank you for a HEA that doesn’t rely on clichés: no proposal, no baby, just two people madly in love and finally in the open.
Now I’m “patiently” waiting for Cosimo and Fabi’s story… because of course I need more.
Quick and addictive read, a love story as intense as it is tender. Slow burn, but fast enough pace. Narration? Perfect.

Mia’s father is currently running for mayor with an anti crime/mob platform. Mia ends up at a party with a hot tattoo man named Romolo who happens to be a member of the mafia. Things get complicated.
This is the first book I have read from Gabrielle Sands, and I’m so glad it’s the first in the series so I can get more books. This book has a Romeo and Juliet vibe with a happy ending.
I love how sweet Mia is even when Romolo doesn’t deserve it since Mia’s kindness really helped Romolo trust her and grow closer together. It was also great to have Romolo show Mia how to put herself first and take care of Mia when nobody was caring for her.
I was looking for a mafia romance and this delivered. This book has amazing intensity and mystery. I loved this book, and can’t wait for Casimo and Fabi’s story.
An amazing Mafia Romance
