Rumors of a local ghost in small-town Geneva cause real distress for mystery novelist Kelly Clark at a time when her life is going great. She’s moving on from her troubled past, her books are selling, and she’s newly in love. But when a local dies across the street from Kelly’s apartment in the Geneva History Museum under suspicious circumstances, Nikki, Kelly’s sister, calls upon her to help figure out what happened. Despite Kelly’s reluctance to get involved with the investigation, she and her sister team up to try to solve the mystery.

Did a ghost really have a hand in the death, or are the sisters allowing a local legend of a haunting to skew their judgment? Their paths divided, Nikki focuses on opening a new coffee shop as Kelly is haunted by nightmares and memories from her past. Things get even more complicated as the Clark sisters face an unexpected pregnancy, a surprise proposal, and a possible foreclosure.

Her relationships crumbling, Kelly questions if she is really moving on with her life, or if she’s just fooling herself. Can Kelly leave her past behind and focus on solving the mystery? Or will Kelly continue to be plagued with nightmares and run away from everything good in her life?

I liked the story, it was something that kept me interested throughout. The narration was a bit robotic for me, but overall, it was a good book.

I was recommended this book by a friend, and I had no idea going in what to expect. I read/listen to a lot of books written by men, mostly from a male perspective. I thought it was interesting seeing things through the eyes of a woman.

I like the mystery aspect, I was not sure till the end. I really like the story and I think that I'd be willing to check out the rest of the series.

Good story, both mystery and romance

This is the second book in the Kelly Clark Mystery Series, a cozy mystery series with an ongoing plot. I love to follow Kelly, Jack, and her sisters Nikki and Adelle in this second installment. This story is more emotional, and more suspenseful than the first in the series. The story is well written, well paced, and engaging, filled with drama, intrigue, and twists and turns. The mystery is well crafted, and captivating. Amanda Fichter did a great job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to listening to Take The Donut, the next book in the series.

Captivating Series!

Setting the Scene: "Kelly Clark and her sister Nikki try to solve another murder mystery-if only the local ghost would stop getting in the way....Rumors of a local ghost in small-town Geneva cause real distress for mystery novelist, Kelly Clark, at a time when her life is going great. She's moving on from her troubled past, her books are selling, and she's newly in love. But when a local dies across the street from Kelly's apartment in the Geneva History Museum under suspicious circumstances, Nikki, Kelly's sister, calls upon her to help figure out what happened. Despite Kelly's reluctance to get involved with the investigation, she and her sister team up to try and solve the mystery.:

What I Thought: There is a lot going on in the sisters' lives in this second outing with Kelly Clark and her sisters, but it all provides for a good cozy mystery. Ms. Hansen skirts some of the common pitfalls that plague cozies, including protagonists so caught in their pasts they are unable to move forward and the dreaded love triangle, but she seems to have once again managed to avoid falling into them. At least I hope so. While the whole Minnesota experience seemed out of place, the mystery was well done, and I did not identify the villain until the reveal. I am pleased to have discovered Ms. Hansen and this series. I look forward to the next book.

The narration still is not as natural as I like, but there is some improvement. I have high hopes for Book 3.
