Loved, loved, loved, loved this listen

This roller coaster of a listen was fun, and thrilling, and scary, and the minute it ended, I wanted back on.

The narration was perfect. Jenna was equal parts take-no-prisoners and soft and she knew when to let someone take care of her and when to take charge. You go girl.

The bad guys here were REALLY unlikable. I'm not sure if I fully agree with their motivations but that matters none, they got theirs in the end.

Did I mention how much I loved this listen?

This book ended with a resolution and a cliffhanger and I can't wait to take another ride.

More like a soap opera.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I always prefer to read books with strong female characters. That's why I picked this book too. But I was sorta disappointed. Jenna didn't seem too bright, considering that she's Assistant DA n all. The other character constructions were poor as well. I didn't understand anyone's motive, tbf. And there were lot of unnecessary details that didn't contribute to the story at all. It sounded more like the author was trying to impress us with his knowledge of the subject matter. But instead, it distracted us from the story.

This book centers around Jenna, the female character who's main objective is to follow the rules.

The story line has a quick pace, a few hours in court, murder, and corruption, which lead to a decent mystery thriller novel.

Logan McAllister did well with the narration.

Loved his voice, cadence and knowledge of characters that brings them to life.

Fantastic Mystery Thriller!

What do you do when a prospective case comes home to roost, suddenly, no one is what they seemed, and the “facts” are as clear as mud! Where do you turn, who do you trust? If your Assistant DA Jenna James, you use all your wits, courage, and every trick in your arsenal to see justice done! “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt” is the first book in what promises to be a dynamic and deeply satisfying series! The characters are plentiful, diverse and well developed with complete backstories! They are ALL so filled with personality! I’d love to have some of them in MY life, while others … let’s just say they’re as shifty as the sands at high tide! No spoilers, I’ll not give away who fits where! This action packed plot is fast moving and held my attention throughout! Both the dialogue and scene setting are very well written, ring true, and serve to keep the story moving forward at a comfortable pace, leaving this listener both supremely satisfied and with no unanswered questions at the conclusion! Beautifully clear, emotionally appropriate narration make listening a pleasure! I look forward to more of what is sure to be a fabulous series! Five stars. I loved it!
