Enjoyed enough to be going for 2nd book

This is more a comment than a criticism. Male narrators make for delicious male voices, but female voices, eh. It has to be tough. Cassie, though a secondary character, was grating. I had to work hard to get past the sound of Tara’s voice as well. Duncan and other guys: dreamy. Same for female narrators of stories. It’s just hard to get the rich timbre of a man’s voice, even with the text reminding the imagination of the “deep and rich voice” of lead male.
I really wish the professional men and women narrators would pair up, just for the dialogue. OTHERWISE- David Monteath has a wonderful voice and perfect accent suitable for this story.
The story itself is entertaining- though purpose why the brothers show up in beginning- um, uh, bleh. And c’mon Tara, leaving the castle at the end was like teens in a B movie thinking it’s ok to go into a haunted house. Also, would have liked some hints along the way of her “power” to come. A little more evolution. All in all, fun and light. what ladies like.

Wonderful Story

I know some reviewers don’t like how the narrator voices the females and I somewhat agree that Tara comes off as snarky and annoying. The other female voices were not bad. However, I have the same reactions to books narrated by females who don’t get the male voices correct. Overall, I love his voice and very much enjoyed listening to the book.

This book was excellent I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series ,very well written it just brings you right into the story. I Loved it!

Solid Time Travel Romance with Scottish Druids

I've listened to this twice now, and I really like it. It's not as fully developed as Moning's Highlander Series - but hey, you won't see me turning down a time-travel romp with a hunky Druid 😍.

The FMC's attitude was a bit worse than I remembered, though. She's at a Renaissance Faire with her friend, but as miserable as she was, you'd think she was in the Hunger Games. Later in Scotland, she breaks some stuff in anger. These were relatively brief moments in the first half, and overall she had a good heart.

This book is circa 2009 and there are some attitudes and elements that haven't aged well, but overall they're mild issues.

The narrator (David Monteath) does good with the Scottish MMC, but his 'female' voices aren't great. However the audiobook is a free listen, so I was fine with it.

Too much drama caused by women being stupid. I don’t mind a bit of silly females but these women make too many bad decisions.
