The destruction of the International Space Station and the discovery of an ancient scroll are inextricably intertwined in this debut crossover thriller from a former Navy helicopter pilot.

The International Space Station suddenly loses contact with Earth. When a NASA tech devises a way to restore the feed, the images that come through are unfathomable: a scene of terrible violence, the crew unresponsive, droplets of blood hovering in zero gravity. But which of the astronauts on board would have done such a thing? And why?

Off the coast of Mozambique, former special ops pilot and current treasure hunter Ethan Cain sees something he can’t believe: an object shot out of the heavens plunging deep into the Indian Ocean. When he goes to investigate, it becomes even less intelligible. A space capsule has crashed into the sea, and inside is a woman—alone, unconscious, and injured. Ethan knows he must save her. What he doesn’t know is who she is, how she got there . . . or why she’s the only survivor of a killing spree conducted 254 miles up in the sky.

I recently finished listening to Blood and Treasure by Ryan Pote, narrated by William DeMeritt. This audiobook is a thrilling ride from start to finish, blending action, suspense, humor, and just the right dose of cutting-edge technology. If you’re a fan of high-octane adventure stories, this one’s a must-listen.
The main character, Ethen Cain, is an absolute standout—a charismatic blend of Clive Cussler’s Dirk Pitt and the tactical brilliance of Jack Carr’s James Reece. He’s tough, witty, and endlessly resourceful, making him the perfect guide through this pulse-pounding narrative. Pote crafts a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, with a plot that weaves together daring escapades, clever twists, and laugh-out-loud moments that break the tension just when you need it. The integration of technology feels fresh and believable, adding a modern edge without overwhelming the story.
The supporting cast is equally impressive, each character bringing their own flair to the table. From loyal allies to cunning adversaries, they’re well-developed and add depth to the adventure, making every interaction memorable.
William DeMeritt’s narration is nothing short of exceptional. His voice captures Ethen’s roguish charm perfectly while giving each character a distinct tone that brings the story to life. His pacing is spot-on, amplifying the suspense in tense moments and delivering the humor with impeccable timing. DeMeritt’s performance makes you feel like you’re right there in the thick of the action.
Overall, Blood and Treasure is a fantastic audiobook that delivers on every front—engaging story, memorable characters, and top-tier narration. Whether you’re a fan of action-packed thrillers or just looking for a fun escape, this one’s a winner. Highly recommend!

I have Local news program 207 to thank once again to pointing me to a local Maine author. Ryan Pote delivered a great story! I enjoyed all the characters and the story line. And really enjoyed the narrator - terrific with accents.
I eagerly await the next chapter!

Quality read

This was a solid debut. Definitely a 4-star. Fun snappy dialogue, lots of adventure and decent twist at the end.

Re-readability: not likely.

Writing: again, solid but not mature.

Plot: back cover drew me in for sure. It was as described. Sets up an adventure and characters that are well fleshed out throughout the book.

Themes: not obvious ones but there are themes of being on a team and fighting through challenges. Painted the antagonist with a wide brush but clearly a good vs evil.

Would give it to my teenage son to read. Some language (pg-13) and torture but nothing gratuitous.

Solid adventure
