Some endings are just new beginnings.

Patrick Collins earned the peace he’s found in New York City with his pack through sacrifice. Six years out from the end of the world, he’s satisfied with the life he’s built and doesn’t think about what else the future might hold until he stumbles his way into a hostage situation he didn’t ask to be part of.

Jonothon de Vere would like nothing more than to wake up each morning with the love of his life and never deal with trouble again. Except Patrick has always been a magnet for such crises, and Jono isn’t one to stand idly by when his lover could use some help.

It feels just like old times when that’s the last thing they want, but maybe it’s also the reminder they need that the future isn’t set in stone. Maybe, just maybe, Patrick and Jono are finally ready to take the next step and walk down the aisle together.

Born to Be Legends is what fans of Hailey Turner’s best-selling Soulbound series have been waiting for.

I love when authors come back and give us a little more. This was a short about Patrick and Jono and it was great to hear the duo come back together to solve a situation and then get a little more to their happily ever after. Now need to start all over from the beginning.

Patrick and Jono really did deserve a quiet epilogue, and I’m thrilled to read it. I will say that A) getting married doesn't feel quite like them and maybe it's because of the reason and B) in some ways it feels incomplete. However, I loved glimpsing their family when not shrouded in war and what six years of peace looks like. It’s gratifying how emotionally healthy and safe Patrick is and how far he’s come from the reckless powerhouse on a hair trigger. As Jono has always been (relatively) emotionally mature and stable, he thrives in the life their family has built and leading a strong god pack that shelters and supports the were-community.

However, he’s still hardcore and has no chill when Patrick seems to be in danger. Of course, Sage is working behind the scenes, and Wade's ready to burn ish down. The hullabaloo Patrick finds himself in is resolved quickly, and the story continues as a cozy reflection on overcoming the hardships that cemented their bond and a celebration of love and friendship. I was disappointed that Marek, Emma, and Leon weren't included in this celebration. Marek is basically not there, and Emma and Leon are completely absent, which causes the aforementioned feeling of incompleteness.

It's essential to focus on their god pack, but Leon, Emma, and Marek provided Jono unconditional love and the closest to a pack he ever had before Patrick appeared. Marek sacrificed much of his sanity, and their banter, bonds, and support also helped Patrick open up and learn to trust so it’s odd for them to be dismissed without even some hugs at the wedding. I feel like some of the word count used to explain the world for any rando that decides to buy book 7.5 in a series could have been dedicated to them, but that was an on-going shortcoming in this series. That said, I did enjoy the cameos that are present and some interesting new faces.

Patrick and Jono are indeed legends, and they suffered through years of all the loss, heartache, and fear that journey demanded. They needed a story all about their happiness and that warmth shines through. They’ve earned their peace and this final goodbye, a goodbye that would feel incomplete without Gary Furlong. He fills all the words with the love, happiness, and peace the pack has earned and makes this final goodbye even sweeter.

wonderful farewell

I love Jono and Patrick so much! I want them to have their well deserved happiness after everything they’ve done to fight for it. And they finally get to get married. It’s very them and their pack makes sure it’s the best it can be. I am happy to get another little story with them all. I hope we get more of these happy moments.

I just love Patrick and Jono. I was really hoping she would write more in this universe and will sorely miss them all.

Hailey Turner dedicated this book to the fans and I truly think she wrote this entire novella with us in mind. Born to Be Legends reads like an extended epilogue and gives us exactly what I've always wished for Patrick and Jono, the ability to see them happy and in love without some dire situation hanging over their heads. I wanted them to get the peace they so rightly deserved after saving the world and Turner delivered that here.

I adored seeing how happy these two were in their domestic bliss. Yes, there is a little bit of action snuck into the plot, but mostly this was Patrick and Jono living their best life. Baby Lillian has grown and is still infatuated with all her packmates. Wade is a bit older than the teen he used to be, but still full of his witty insights. And eating enough to feed an army. Everyone seems like they have settled into their new lives surrounded by those they love. It was the absolute perfect ending and well deserved for all.

A gift for the fans
