An unflinching and hilarious memoir about recovery as a mother of young kids, Bottled explains the perils moms face with drinking and chronicles the author's path to recovery, from hitting bottom to the months of early sobriety - a blur of pain and chaos - to her now (in)frequent moments of peace.

Punctuated by potent, laugh-out-loud sarcasm, Bottled offers practical suggestions on how to be a sober, present-in-the-moment mom, one day at a time, and provides much needed levity on an issue too often treated with deadly seriousness.

I am in my first week of sobriety and this has been exactly what I needed as a momma of 4 boys under 8. Thank you so much for having the courage to write this book!

Just what I needed

This is read in such a condescending tone, it’s insulting to the reader. The author also tries to make this into a book of top 10 lists and her attempt at wittiness gets very old after a while, she also confuses “how I did it“ with facts, trying to push off pastors and preachers for licensed therapists, and not taking into account that actual research shows that going to AA is no better of a method for treating substance abuse than doing nothing at all. On the upside, it was free, so I didn’t waste any money, just time that I will never get back. Bottom line.: skip this book.

I got two hours in and couldn’t make it any further. The first two hours barely mentioned drinking, only Jesus and marriage, so if you’re looking for quit lit, please look elsewhere. I recommend We are the Luckiest for moms.

Please skip.
