Turns out Kris is by no means another one. She gets it, right down to the ground. There’s no bypassing, no dismissal of feelings, and no distancing from pain with misquoted scripture or twisted theology empowering the perpetrators of narcissistic abuse.
I’d already read extensively on narcissism, but still found useful ways of seeing familiar themes. I think any Christian who needs a basic guide with exercises and strategies for true healing will love this book. You’ll learn about codependency, boundaries, deepening your trust in God, and finding freedom in taking your life back from abusers and takers.
I follow Kris’ podcast and have recently been fascinated by her teachings on how God avenges himself upon those who perpetrate narcissistic abuse. If I’d heard this message in 2016, I wouldn’t have believed it, but 2025 seemed to be a year of divine timing,
While I imagined the flying monkey whom I believed irreparably damaged my life was living without consequence, I discovered he had been brought so low, being physically disfigured by disease, that I actually felt sorry for him. The priest’s behavior is well known to the new bishop and most of the diocese. This brings me no joy, nor do I think God did this for me. However, it does go to show that God’s justice is precise and his timing impeccable, and we are called to get out of the way. It is not ours to avenge, however much we want and deserve justice. We can ask for reckoning, retribution, and recompense as is evident in the Bible. God will avenge and he will restore.
Also in 2025, a “Christian” communal narcissist who appeared to be an angel of light, left me with a house full of unfinished work after being paid in good faith.. He was textbook, but I’d had little experience of the communal narcissist. My intuition led me to have him investigated and he has a criminal record with judgments against him for doing the same to others. Goodwill in the community has run short as his name is now known to all influential individuals.
However much one learns, it seems there is always another permutation of narcissistic evil. Be sober, be vigilant, be wise. Learn as much as you can and never ignore a red flag, a gut feeling, or bypass your better judgment because someone tells you they are a service-driven Christian. Or because someone else says someone is. Live in the Spirit and trust God.
Do give this book and Kris’ podcast a listen if you are a believer. She speaks to prayers for both peace and justice, and alerts you to many strategies and tricks the narcissist and other abusers will use against the Christian.
There may be nowhere a narcissist can find supply and justification of abuse more than in a church, nor is there any place he can do as much eternal damage.
No doormat theology here
