Burn

It's the middle of a sweltering late-summer heat wave in Los Angeles. In the nearby mountains, a seasonal wildfire burns out of control. If not for this fire, authorities might never have discovered wreckage of an Alfa Romeo convertible - or the body of the car's driver - in the dense underbrush at the bottom of Topanga Canyon. But when firefighters happen across the crash site while battling the nearby blaze, it's only a matter of time and basic forensics before the apparent accident is upgraded to homicide. Gregor Tavlin, a southern California celebrity fitness guru, has been murdered. As far as anyone knows Tavlin had no enemies. And the closest thing to a suspect in the case has disappeared.

Such is the spark that touches off Burn.

The fire requires only fuel.

And everybody has their flash point.

the book was entertaining and it kept my interest. I am planning to read more from this author.

Narrator ruined the story

The narrator was not good. He mispronounced Spanish names and sir names. His cadence was very awkward and difficult to tolerate.

Convoluted

I found the story to be confusing and convoluted. There were way too many side stories that didn't seem to bring anything of relevance to the story.

Great story! Vocal performance could use a bit of inflection

Great mystery and wonderful characters. Unfortunately Basil reads the story like you would read a random article from the newspaper. Flat, dull and with very little expression.

Can’t do it

I just can’t get into this story. Maybe I’m just not listening carefully, I don’t know. Too many characters for me. Too confusing.
