Do you dream of being your own boss? You can start a small business, or you can acquire one already underway. After going through this program, you will understand the particular risks and benefits of each method. We will explore what it really means to be successful in your own business beyond the surface-level statistics. You will learn how businesses are valued and how to use tools like debt to acquire one or buy the stuff you need to do a startup. Most importantly, we’ll explore the real risks of small business and manage those risks by understanding how to plan for contingencies, pivots and setting limits.

WARNING: This is not a book to get you all excited with lots of empty-headed pro-entrepreneurship lifestyle cheerleading stuff. It’s about the real world and based on the author's experience as a business owner and advisor since the 1990's.

If you’re looking for honest advice without influencer spin, this is the book for you. Not a bloated how to manual but rather a concise primer on what to expect and lookout for. I’ve consulted 1:1 with David and would recommend the same for anyone considering pursuing business acquisition.

Also, a tip of the hat to the narration, very well placed and pleasant to listen to. Major kudos to the author for going through the painstaking process, The impact of the work would not have been the same had he not.

Wise and without hype.

This is a must-buy book for anyone considering starting a new business, franchise, or independent venture. Very few people have a vested interest in promoting the insights David shares—except business buyers. Franchisors, business sellers, and brokers often have little to gain from understanding or applying David’s advice.

My daughter and I are going into business together and purchasing a franchise. After spending over 30 hours watching David’s YouTube videos, listening to three audiobooks, and having a one-hour consultation directly with David, we are both incredibly grateful for his work.

Do not move forward with a small business purchase without at least reading or listening to this book. It is easily worth 1,000 times its cost—and that’s a conservative estimate.

Thank you, David. My daughter and I truly appreciate everything you’ve done!
