For Allena Hansen, a vicious bear attack was "no biggie" compared to the trauma inflicted by her refined '60s upbringing, her stint as Playboy's token intellectual bimbo, and her cowgirl angst, which is enough to knock even Job for a loop.

A tragicomic collection of latter-day Grimm's fairy tales, Chomp, Chomp, Chomp: How I Survived a Bear Attack and Other Cautionary Tales introduces Hansen as the smart-assed socialite and full-contact gardener that Hunter S. Thompson once toasted as "the distaff Hunter S. Thompson" and Andrew Breitbart called out as "the coolest person in the room".

Offering herself up as a cautionary example, Hansen poses the age-old question: "What makes a survivor?" Listen to this book and remain as puzzled as ever. But as you marvel at her uncompromisingly bad judgment and uncanny resilience, you just might learn something that could save your life.

Allena Hansen has led an incredible life and tells of it with grace, humor, wit and frankness. I enjoyed every minute of this performance/book. Well, at times it was more heart breaking, infuriating or disturbing than enjoyable but that all makes for one hell of a good listen.

Most of this book talks about the authors life. Growing up, travels, etc. suppose to be about bear attack

Boring, boring, boring

it's 11+ hours of someone who thinks their life story is worth all but 1 hour about anything associated with a bear attack. I don't need to know every dude you slept with and thought of sleeping with. Someone needed an editor to explain how to tie in a bit of the past woven into the story to explain how she managed to be who she is and kept a sunny attitude during the attack and a passing mention of physical therapy. The fight back from the damage to regain her life would have been infinitely more interesting than all the men she met, slept with, or befriended along the way. All the name-dropping "Hollyweird" insiders and descriptions of majestic mansions she had dinner at.

it's as exciting as a wet mop and I used it on Audible to fall asleep at night

Boring life story with a mention of a bear attack
