Zoe Chambers, paramedic and deputy coroner in rural Pennsylvania's tight-knit Vance Township, has been privy to a number of local secrets over the years, some of them her own. But secrets become explosive when a dead body is found in the Township Board president's abandoned car. As a January blizzard rages, Zoe and Police Chief Pete Adams launch a desperate search for the killer, even if it means uncovering secrets that could not only destroy Zoe and Pete but also those closest to them.

I really enjoyed this little book. It stuck with the mystery without putting in any mushy romance. My favorite characters were the Grandmother and the teen age kids. (Fictional teen agers are easier to deal with than the real thing!) This book has a good ending and I look forward to reading the next book!

A GOOD READ

I prefer books without the inclusion of certain curse words which this book only had a few at least.

The narrator was really good and the story line kept my interest.

The story is good, characters are interesting, and the tough subjects are handled with sensitivity - but they’re still tough. Excellent narration.

Solid - but definitely not a cozy mystery

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The narrator wasn't one of the best I've ever heard, but she wasn't bad either, and she didn't have any annoying tics or anything that would make you want to stop listening. The story was solid, if somewhat predictable. The major characters are relatable and likeable. I plan to give the series a listen.

Good listen for cozy mystery buffs
