In a war-torn land, love is always a lie.

Reyna Darragh despises the scheming ways of the fae courts—she'd rather be on the battlefield. But as the daughter of a High King, her hand in marriage can end the war faster than her sword. So, with her realm in tatters, she agrees to marry her enemy, Prince Thane. The very same prince who killed hundreds of her kind during the war.

Reyna has a far greater scheme in mind. To save her kingdom from the vicious prince, she plans to marry him, make him king, and then murder him so that she can take the throne herself. But as she grows closer to securing the crown, traitorous desire stirs.

Beyond the storm of passion, intrigue, and betrayal, a greater evil rises in a forgotten realm. In the end, Reyna can help stop it, but she must decide where her loyalties lie: with her duty to her kingdom or with the vengeance in her heart.

Court of Ruins is the first book in The Fallen Fae, an epic fantasy series packed with romance, magic, and intrigue.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ // 🌶️🌶️🌶️
“A Court of Ruins” by Jenna Wolfhart
🎧 Audiobook narrated by the fabulous Laura Horowitz
This book has EVERYTHING I crave in a fantasy romance:
✨ Warring Fae courts
👑 Schemes, betrayals, and power plays for the throne
💍 A forced betrothal with all the tension
🦊 A loyal animal familiar (yes, I’m obsessed)
🌫️ A dark force creeping through the land
🕵️‍♀️ Secret identities and shocking reveals
🔥 A slow-burn romance that smolders
📚 Multi-POV chapters that kept me hooked from every angle
The pacing was chef’s kiss — fast enough to keep the pages turning (or in my case, the audiobook rolling), but still rich with emotional depth and worldbuilding. I absolutely loved getting inside the heads of the various characters — each voice felt distinct and real, which brings me to…
🌟 Laura Horowitz's narration was a standout! She nailed each character’s voice with such precision and emotion. It truly felt like a full-cast production, and her performance elevated the story to another level.
And THAT ENDING?!? I’m still recovering from the cliffhanger. Immediately diving into book 2 — I need answers, closure, and more of that delicious slow-burn tension. 😮‍💨
Highly recommend for fans of:
* Sarah J. Maas-style Fae intrigue
* Romance with a generous side of danger
* Fierce heroines
* Political maneuvering with magical stakes
5/5 stars and a solid 🌶️🌶️🌶️ spice level — enough to keep it steamy, but perfectly balanced with plot.

What a great book! So many subplots and character relationships! Can’t wait to read the rest.

It's a good story and i enjoyed it... the spice was good but it was minimal... the narrator was also good if not a little overly dramatic but you get use to it... I'm terrible at giving reviews but the this story is different from allot of others in that magic is dying and fae don't have access to it anymore and war has torn the courts apart and into poverty for most low fae so princess Rayna of the ice court agreed to Wed prince Thane of air to join there to kingdoms for piece but she has plans of vengeance.. it did end on a cliff hanger but book 2 is coming quick so enjoy...

I enjoyed it

This is one of my favorite Narrators, the story was overall good but the writing was a little amateurish.
