Scrappy sleuth Carmela Bertrand solves a holiday homicide in New Orleans' French Quarter in the latest Scrapbooking Mystery from the New York Times best-selling author.

While strolling through the Winter Market with her best friend, Ava, scrapbook shop owner Carmela Bertrand comes upon a dying man stabbed by a serving fork. The victim is loathed restaurant critic Martin Lash, who posted his scathing reviews on the Glutton for Punishment website. And the prime suspect is New Orleans restauranteur Quigg Brevard - who was seen giving the critic a tongue-lashing minutes before someone stuck a fork in him. An old flame of Carmela's, Quigg asks for her help, which does not please her current beau, Detective Edgar Babcock. Before her relationship is the next victim, Carmela needs to find a murderer who had no reservations about punishing the culinary curmudgeon.

The story was excellent but the narrator was a distraction. Her voice was annoying and sounded to old for the characters. Also her fake NOLA accent was not helpful she didn't do the people of NOLA justice.

Horrible Narrator

I always enjoy the books in this cozy mystery series. It has great characters, is very entertaining, and is fast pace. In this book Carmella and Ava get into trouble and, as usual, Babcock is not happy. The book will keep you guessing and there is a surprise ending. I also enjoyed the recipes and scrapbooking ideas.
Four stars because it is not great literature but is a fun read!
