When I answered an ad for a caretaker at Saint Mark’s Sanctuary, I thought I’d be dusting chandeliers and polishing floors. I didn’t expect to be tricked into a curse, going into debt to a monster, and being forced to take a self-paced “let’s learn magic” course so I can fix a 2,000-year-old problem.

And that monster? Not your ordinary, everyday beast. He has hooves, and horns, and fur on his legs. But you know where he doesn’t have fur? Yeah. There. Which is fine. Except he doesn’t wear pants.

Nothing at Saint Mark’s is exactly what it seems. The entire inside is magic, the hallways upstairs are nothing but parties from the past, and the super-hot guy who lives in the dungeon? Yeah. Not human.

My name is Pie, and all I want is to be a normal girl with an average life. I refuse to get stuck in this curse. I refuse to learn magic to break it. And there is no way in hell I will fall in love with a monster. Famous. Last. Words.

Creative and addictive

As always, JA Huss takes you on a journey. I love the characters. I love how they unfold as the story progresses. Yes, there is an element of romance; however, it’s also full of mystery and suspense. The narrators did a fantastic job, making me feel like I was living things through their perspective and the way that JA Huss was able to make me feel my surroundings was excellent. After reading so many of her books, I have to say, that she is one of my favorite current authors. She ranks up there with Anne Rice and Diana Gabledon. Thank you so much.

Absolutely obsessed!

This was phenomenal! I've read almost ever contemporary book written by Julie, but this is my first fantasy/paranormal book I've read by her and it exceeded all my expectations! Pell is my heart and soul! I love him so much! And Pie is a fantastic FMC! I finished the whole book in a few hours. I was addicted immediately. Julie can do no wrong! She's my uncontested favorite author ever!

Pretty good

The narrators are good. The story line is great. But… the rambling that the characters do; got on my nerves… I sped up the speed and skipped ahead a lot. I just wanted to know what happed without all the whining and over descriptions… maybe it’s just me… but still a good listen.
