Dane Donovan is in Paris, but he is not starting over. Neither is he looking back. He’s picking up where he left off—now, more than ever, determined to get it right. Four years ago she was a mistake, but unfortunately for Dane, walking away may not be an option this time around.

To bring her cousin home, Zera Kennedy would give up everything she worked for… including the first man to capture her heart. But now that the kidnapper’s trail has gone cold, Zera is not sure she’ll be able to achieve her goal, and until she does, returning to her home in Kenya is not an option. Neither is staying away from Dane Donovan once he walks back into her life. But the moment they both let down their guard and believe in the love that gives them a new look on life, fear invades their tender reunion and threatens every kiss, every moan, every… breath they take.

Dane and Zera were a match made in espionage and intrigue. How great was it that Zera had such a mystery behind her presence that was unknown from beginning to end. The context behind Zera's actions and the family connections were beilliant. AC Arthur pleasantly surprised me with a thrilling story.

I am so conflicted. I was excited about this book and I bought the audiobook. Between the description and two of my favorite narrators. What could be better?

Well, I started this book on at least 3 different occasions. It did not hold my interest at all. I found myself switching to the ebook, thinking maybe I was zoning out because I was listening instead of reading. I found myself skimming through the ebook because I couldn't get into Zara and Dane. I felt no connection, no chemistry, nothing intriguing or engaging.

The situation with Emmett came as no great surprise. The "surprise" at the end was no surprise.

The only thing I could think (and I could be wrong) was that since this was my first Donovan family book, I wasn't in tune. Maybe I needed to start at the beginning of the Donovan family series to appreciate the characters. I have a couple of the other Donovan Dynasty books, but I am hesitant to read them for fear of being disappointed. I think I will revisit this series at a later date.

I am rating this at 2.5 stars. I was disappointed, but feel like I should have enjoyed this book. Not logical. I just hate to give it only 2 stars. I encourage you to read the text with an open mind and form your own opinion. Don't simply take my word for it - take a chance and draw your own conclusions.

Narration Was Good. Story, Not So Much
