Good Premise

Jane annoyed me. I wanted to like her very badly.. but I despise when authors write heroines with little control of their “uncontrollable” passion. “Desires” she couldn’t help but feel! Yet, she’s supposedly a virgin young miss in the early 19th century? It’s just.. annoying and implausible. It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t brought up EVERY 10 minutes. The narrator is great, like her tone and voice. She portrays emotion well. I think I like Aiden- he’s why I’ve tried to keep listening but… Jane is just annoying. He’s the villain in her mind, she thinks horribly of him.. yet she can’t help but lust after him? Want to embrace him? Eugh. Pick a side. As if her father isn’t a drunken milksop who treats her like a maid. Who is the reason she’s in the whole situation. She’s a whiny crybaby.

Perfection !! I absolutely love Eve Silver and her dark romance stories. I have read almost all the audible romances of her. This series is a must! Happy reading

Kill me, will ya?

The story kept me from my household shores. Not sure if being in a pandemic is a blessing or not. I have two days to finish the series, before I go back to work. I really need sleep. And feed my family cooked food rather than snacks so they would leave me alone. The Audible narration goes beyond. Another excellent performance. But holding the kindle and reading at the same time doesn't make it go faster.

The book could use a sequel. Clearly the author did extensive research on the ways of life during this period in time. I wondered what happened to Jane's cousin. Yeah, do a sequel and name it 3.5 like other authors. Enjoyed more than the last one; which was also five stars rating.

Being a parent doesn't necessarily mean they would love and accept their children. Some education comes from life lessons. Revenge can be sweet. But it can also consume you. When someone truly loves you, they don't see imperfections. It's not about acceptance; rather, it's about making the other person smile.

Good First Impression

This was a new experience in both author and narrator and I enjoyed it. It took a few chapters for the story to start taking shape, and was presented well. The writing was much better than your average romance, so I’m looking forward to the next book by this author. The narrator did a fine job and I’d compare her with some of my favorite female narrators out there. It takes someone with true talent to perform both male and female characters. Especially in a romantic storyline where both characters must be performed at the highest level in order to truly be immersed and enjoy the story. This narrator and author are a nice combination - which has become more difficult to find lately (as someone who listens and/or reads to 4-7 books a week). Worth your time and credit.
