My first love ended in tragedy.

My second began with his brother.

From Wall Street Journal best seller Parker S. Huntington comes a broken love story laced with angst and forbidden romance.

I wasn’t supposed to be on that roof on Valentine’s Day.

Neither was Kellan Marchetti, the school’s designated freak.

We met on the verge of ending our lives.

Somehow, the tattered strings of our tragedies tangled and tightened into an unlikely bond.

We decided not to take the plunge and agreed to check on each other every Valentine’s Day until school ended.

Same time.

One roof.

Two restless souls.

We kept our promise for three years.

On the fourth, Kellan made a decision, and I was left to deal with the consequences.

Just when I thought our story ended, another one began.

They say all love stories look the same and taste different.

Mine was venomous, disgraceful, and written in scarlet scars.

My name is Charlotte Richards, but you can call me Venom.

This was my first book by this author. What an amazing book to get me introduced!! There are so many layers to this book. Thanks to unbearable heartbreak given at a very young age. To have to deal and process with all by yourself. Who would think the day you are planning to end it all, you make an unexpected friend on a rooftop wanting to end their life as well. So let’s come up with a deal. Let’s meet every Valentine’s Day on the roof. The only day of the year we actually talk with words and check in on each other.

This book has so many unexpected layers to it. Just when you think wow…. I can’t believe that happened another shocker happens!

Did I cry because I felt these characters sadness and hurt? You bet I did…. But it was a beautiful broken love story.

The narrators really made this book for me. They brought it to life and gave it that extra something!

A heartbreaking love story

how do I describe what I thought of this book without giving spoilers …? It's insanely long, but I didn't feel like it was too long at all and the plot didn't drag one bit (and thank God for short chapters, I love it!) 😂

I loved the special plot, the broken characters, the tragedies and how they affected all the characters, the flowing writing… and above all, I LOVED the heroine – this is completely her story. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

What I didn't like might be a bit petty, but I like books with a logical time sequence. The plot begins when the heroine is 14 years old and continues until the present, when she is 22. So how did she hear the song 'Watermelon Sugar' at the age of 14…? 🤔🙄
Plus, there were some parts that I thought were unnecessary – for example, Charlotte's Pap test and what happened during… it was completely creepy. 🙈

All in all, this is not a quick or easy read, and it's not a smutty book either (even though it has a really steamy chapter! 🔥). It was toxic and touching, tragic and healing, sad and funny, beautiful and ugly. It didn't make me cry (and I'm a serious crybaby!!!) but it definitely hurt and touched me – and I highly recommend it. ❤️‍🔥

I heard the audiobook, which was amazing! 👏
When I started listening and discovered that it had more than two narrators, my curiosity grew even more… and what a wonderful combination it was. Each of them suited the character perfectly and managed to breathe life into them. ❤️‍🔥
