A bet turned into a disaster.

Sebastian Weaver is the star quarterback and the college’s heartthrob.
Rich. Handsome. Bastard. Everyone’s attention flocked toward him, and all the girls dreamed of being with him.

Not me. At least, not until he made a move on me. See, I thought I was stronger than Sebastian’s charms. I thought I could survive being his target. I thought wrong. Little did I know that he will make my most twisted fantasies come true. Fantasies I didn’t know existed...

Red Thorns is a dark new adult book that contains dubious situations some listeners might find offensive and/or triggering. Red Thorns is part of a duet and is not stand-alone.

Wow! What a book and that cliffhanger. Awesome! Narrators are wonderfull. I'm accustomed to duet style narration in Rina's books and this book wasn't. That's the only thing that would have made it better. On to read Black Thorns.

A story of two at face value unmatched characters who inherently had more in common than they knew. Quirky cheerleader who likes crime shows and listening to music catches the attention of a star quarterback. Asocial Naomi meets antisocial Sebastian and are strongly attracted to one another, yet they disguise their behavior projecting sarcasm and cool civil and, in the sheets, a role play of toy and monster. But of course, there is a subplot of mystery. It would not be a Rina Kent story without it.

Trial (meaning three, dual + one) narration and wow! Excellent performances by all actors, but consider the line up. Every actor delivered range, tone, and versatility with aplomb, whether in character, reciting another character, or narrating thoughts, infusing their characters with authenticity. Rose Dioro, depicting a determined to insecurely confident Naomi, was also particularly remarkable at reciting a sweet hint of Japanese accent. Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan, with those darkly velvet voices, narrated with such expression, as even a phone book would be animated. Simply stellar performances all around. I read the book and was rewarded with the audiobook performance.

Simply spectacular!

Sebastian and Naomi’s story is not for the faint of heart. It’s dark and depraved and you can’t help falling down the rabbit hole into the twisted world where their undeniable connection sparks to life. This story has so many different layers. It’s packed full of family drama, plots of revenge and plenty of secrets and lies. All the little hints dropped along the way will have your mind running wild. I can’t wait to see how this duet ends.

A successful collaboration between Rina Kent, Teddy Hamilton, Rose Dioro, and Jacob Morgan. I love that Akira got his own unique voice. These talented narrators did an incredible job of bringing Rina’s twisted characters to life.

So many moments that will leave you speechless!

"Red Thorns" by Rina Kent is an absolute whirlwind of passion, intrigue, and dark desires that had me utterly captivated the entire time.

Sebastian Weaver, the charismatic star quarterback and college heartthrob, is a character that demands attention. His magnetic presence and enigmatic personality make him impossible to resist. There is a complexity to his character which includes his ability to seamlessly switch between tender love and a primal, feral intensity. He truly is EVERYTHING, and the way he navigates between his "split personalities" adds a layer of fascination that keeps readers hooked.

Then there's Naomi, our enigmatic heroine. Her anti-social tendencies and the mystery shrouding her family background make her a character you can't help but root for. Her journey of self-discovery and vulnerability resonates deeply, making her relatable and endearing.

But what truly sets this book on fire is the scorching chemistry between Sebastian and Naomi. Rina Kent crafts their relationship with finesse, infusing it with tension, longing, and a romance that is impossible to resist. It's a love story that transcends the ordinary, and their connection feels both destined and extraordinary.

The story itself is a whirlwind of emotions, desires, and unexpected twists. Rina Kent takes familiar tropes and breathes new life into them, making the narrative feel fresh and exhilarating. The Japanese themes, including their shared love of anime, add a unique and culturally diverse dimension to the story, which is a welcome change in the romance genre. As the plot unfolds, secrets are unveiled, and the story takes exhilarating twists and turns. The sinister turn of events adds a thrilling dimension to the narrative, and the unpredictability of it all had me absolutely hooked. Not to mention the intensity of that closing cliffhanger!

"Red Thorns" is a spellbinding and unforgettable read that showcases Rina Kent's mastery in crafting stories that are emotionally charged and intensely passionate. Sebastian and Naomi's journey is a testament to the power of desire and the depths of human connection. Once again, Rina Kent created a character that sunk it's claws into me and I am entirely hooked. If you're a fan of dark romance with complex characters and sizzling chemistry, this book is an absolute must-read. It's a story that will leave you breathless and yearning for more long after you've turned the last page.

The book and storyline are amazing, though I did see some reviews saying that the popularity idea was more high school and though that can be the case. Some colleges are like that as well, especially when most of the class are everyone you once knew in high school. HOWEVER! When the best was revealed is when I had to put the book down. How everyone jumped on that ban wagon had me seeing red. I never had such a strong urge to Fatally hurt a non-existent person before! Bravo Rina Kent, Bravo.
