Bree Waters thought she knew all of Sea Haven’s secrets, but she was wrong.

The residents of Sea Haven have spent generations hiding the fact that they’re descended from powerful creatures of the deep. Their mermaid ancestors are supposed to be extinct—at least, that’s what Bree’s been told. When Bree finds a merman washed ashore after a harsh storm, she begins to uncover secrets the city council is determined to keep hidden.

Banished from the town she thought she knew and stripped of her beloved magic, Bree must team up with a man from her past if she has any hope of restoring her powers. But fighting back only sends Bree on a quick course toward deep waters—and deep waters are never easy to escape.

Deep Waters is the first book in an upper young adult contemporary fantasy series featuring mermaids, a sweet love triangle, and a small town mystery. This teen novel is suitable for ages 13 and up.

That was fantastic! The characters are great, the story is superb, and the narration - chef's kiss.
I look forward to book two.

Wow!

Altogether a great story with intrigue, mystery, and cool action. Some of the exposition feels a bit...well, exposition-y like the author is talking to the reader rather than the characters unraveling the story naturally, and some (but not all) beats of the story feel predictable, but in other areas, the dialogue plays out as natural as real speech. The story kept me curious enough to want to read the sequel!

Great seaside adventure
