When bubbly wedding cake baker Charles (not Charlie…never Charlie) accidentally overhears a mob boss plotting a murder, he contacts the cops. Detective Eamon O’Rourke offers to protect him…by posing as his boyfriend.

Soon, they’re cooped up in Charles’s cozy little house in the cute, small town of Charming, NY. Sparks fly, and it doesn’t take long before they give in to the attraction simmering between them.

But Eamon isn’t a cop at all. He’s an angel. Charles’s guardian angel. And he’s anything but angelic, especially in what he wants to do with Charles....

Eamon has his hands full with Charles in more ways than one. Especially when Charles discovers Eamon’s been hiding the truth from him, because if there’s one thing Charles is allergic to, it’s liars.

Is a happily ever after possible for the wedding baker and his Dirty Angel?

This book is slightly different than what Nora Phoenix writes. She doesn't usually do paranormal. But I really liked this story and the narration by Michael Dean. The growth of the relationship and the individual characters was really nice , although theyndid fall into the "I love him after three days" trope. There were funny and sweet moments, and emotional ones as Eamon struggles with his duty and his feelings for Charles. Eamon comes off as a bit of a himbo, but his heart is in the right place. They talk about past sexual experiences but don't actually get together until near the end of the book.

I'm not Irish, but I thought the accent was pretty good to my American ears. Eamon apparently thinks he's hiding it, but he fails at it pretty spectacularly. The one thing that was never brought up was that Charles hates lying, even by omission, due to a bad past relationship. However, even though it's clear Eamon is hiding something, Charles let's him get away with it and doesn't bring it up when everything is revealed. it just seemed a bit out of character.

sweet and emotional

It's been awhile since I've read a Nora Phoenix romance - I think I read their entire backlist when I started reading MM ages ago, but it has been a long time. Phoenix's style hasn't changed, but I did apprecaite the sweet, softness of the relationship between the two main characters.

The audio version of Dirty Angel is performed by Michael Dean.

So chapter 2-5 the angel is screaming creep to me. But once I got past that it was an ok book. The narrator is great and the pacing is ok.

It’s decent
