Audiobook 1 of the Archaon Duology

Archaon Everchosen, Lord of the End Times, stands poised to sweep the world away in a storm of Chaos. But where did he come from? Who was he before he fell to darkness? For the first time, the true story behind Archaon is revealed.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's the first half of one of the most epic tales in Warhammer history, delving into the past of the Chaos champion known as Archaon and exploring what can make a devout Sigmarite warrior fall into the service of the Dark Gods.

THE STORY

In the north of the world the forces of Chaos gather, awaiting their moment to strike. At their head is the Everchosen, the warrior who will lead the final, cataclysmic assault that will usher in the End Times and the reign of the Ruinous Powers. But he was not always thus – he was once a man, a devout servant of the warrior-god Sigmar. What could cause such a soul to fall to the worship of the Dark Gods? What dark events could have put a knight of the Empire on the path to becoming the harbinger of the world's end? And just who was the man who will become known to all as Archaon?

Holy crap, I finished this in 3 days. Voiceactor was amazing and the pace was wonderful.

This may be the best Warhammer Fantasy book I have listened to. I can't wait for the second one to be recorded.

Humanizes the inhuman

Spooner does an excellent job as a narrator, besides pronouncing the german names. The story is interesting, but with a very short transition period for Archaon from good to bad(a$$).

Great narration

Archaon’s transformation is a tragic one, but quite in line with the grim ambience that is usually found within Warhammer. He seems to have a few odd redeeming qualities for a man who intends to bring about the apocalypse of all existence. The book is worth a listen for sure, but there are a few plot areas early within the story I found a bit confusing with regard to his mortality (or lack thereof?).

Interesting Character Arc
