The Wallflower by Frances Reynolds

Elizabeth, initially delighted by the novelty of new acquaintances and experiences in London, dislikes one proud, conceited, and unfairly handsome Mr Darcy who renders a grievous insult to her at one of their first meetings. Alas, the social downfall of this insult is rapid and severe for Elizabeth.

FITZWILLIAM DARCY regrets his intemperate words and wishes everyone would allow them to be forgot. Alas, with Charles Bingley set on winning Jane Bennet's heart and hand, and his noble uncle eager to further an acquaintance with the Gardiners, he will have to do more than merely wish. He will have to admit that a young lady left sitting without a dance partner may still be very tempting indeed.

Duology fan

Always enjoy listening to this narrator and like how both these authors develop characters. Have read the books before but enjoyed listening to them as I went on my morning walks. Always enjoy variations with the Gardiners highly involved. Enjoyed the time spent on Jane's romance. Sorry Jane is given the personality of submissive/weak younger sister instead of being a protective older sister. Course, even according to Austen, this seemed a pattern on the Bennet family.

Great P&P duology by two excellent authors

It’s wonderful that Quills & Quartos Publishing has released this audiobook duology featuring two excellent Pride and Prejudice variation novellas by two very talented authors, Julie Cooper and Frances Reynolds, and narrated by the best of narrators, Stevie Zimmerman. Her narration and performance is always stellar and never ever disappoints.


Irresistably Alone, written by Julie Cooper
This book is everything a Pride and Prejudice variation should be. Julie Cooper, in this unputdownable novella, has written a perfect love story in the truest sense of those words. Oh my, I wish I could give it ten stars.

The Wallflower, written by Frances Reynolds
In this dual Elizabeth/Darcy POV novella-length book, Frances Reynolds cleverly lets us see just what each of them is feeling or thinking as the plot unfolds. ‘The Wallflower’ is a very satisfying read and is well written and edited. I highly recommend it.

Well written and well narrated

Both stories in this duology are entertaining and engaging, which is unusual as normally a strong story is paired with a weaker one. both maintained my interest and left me both satisfied with their conclusion and wanting to enjoy more of each story.

Two great stories

Both stories were very enjoyable but Irresistibly Alone by Julie Cooper was truly wonderful. Darcy was most heroic and caring, truly swoon worthy.
In Wallflower by Francis Reynolds - Elizabeth stands out with her nature to try to find happiness in trying circumstances. Circumstances that were of course caused by Darcy. But as usual he realizes his error and sets out to make amends. Stevie Zimmerman as always gives a perfect performance.

2 Very Good P&P Variations with Excellent Reader

First story has a horrible Mr B. As I prefer the variations which show him in a better light than JA, I really disliked this characterization, but it creates great trepidation for Lizzy’s future. Loved the way Mr Darcy was portrayed. A very enjoyable story. In the second variation, Mr Darcy is extremely unlikeable, but that makes for more riveting tales. Elizabeth’s situation in London - after Mr Darcy’s insult - is original in my experience. I liked this story, too. And Stevie Z is Always excellent.
