Octavius Evander here. I suppose you have come to see how it all ends. Well, ‘ends’, as in, we’ve reached the end of this part of my story. It wouldn’t be proper of me to move on until we finish it all off, right?

As this is the last book in this series, I feel it is my duty, to end things with a bang! A glittery bang. By bang, I mean, a giant, super cool, Halloween party. And what a party it was…

Costumes, decorations, family, frenemies, scares, Turney screaming and clinging on to me—fun times! Not so fun was the interruption to said party. It really was unfair to me. I was on vacation from real murder and mayhem—case related mayhem only—yet somehow, someone had the audacity to be murdered. Inconsiderate people all around! But you didn’t all come here just for the Halloween party. I know that.

There is a certain someone you are waiting to hear about, I’m sure. A certain horrible, maggot of a person. Well…you won’t be disappointed. That issue will be solved, once and for all. The question you may be asking yourselves now is, how will it be solved? All I’m willing to say is, it happened in an unusual and extremely unprepared way. While, you shouldn’t worry too much, as my story, my precious Turney’s story, has a happy ending…it may be good to keep in mind that happiness sometimes shines brightest right after despair.

The beginning of the book could have been cut as it was a lot about Halloween and how much Octavius loved scaring everyone and not really caring how much Turney didn't like it. I also forgot that the use of "the zombie" & "the vampire" was overused & was a bit annoying. I wish that Dayan's death would have been a lot bloodier!

Enjoyed it!

This is the final book in the series. Octavius, Turney and found family get put through the wringer. Chapter 38 almost broke my heart. Also I love the way Lance West does Octavius’ bat voice, it’s so cute!!!

Loved it!

(I mean sort of, considering the sequel series is under works) to the series, but it’s not as good as books two and three. Mostly because I was frustrated for the entire Halloween party arc.
I don’t mind the planning of the party, and the arc following, but the four hours dedicated to the party are incredibly frustrating. I really like Octavius, and of course he isn’t written to be a perfect person, but when the party starts he stops being fun and ridiculous and just becomes a massive jerk. He doesn’t listen to Turney about anything to an uncomfortable degree, he has no empathy for the people involved with the mystery at the party (they’re not bad people, so it’s completely uncalled for) and is almost cruel to them for no reason than his own entertainment, and generally bulldozes over anyone who suggests anything he doesn’t like. It’s icky. Like the author just took his character and all the fun parts of him and stretched them beyond fun and into mean. It was not a good four hours; I missed the fun tone of the rest of the series.
Now fortunately, Octavius goes back to his regular self after the party, and I liked the rest of the book. The author did pull it back to feeling like the other books. There were no loose ends, and I’m excited for the sequel series.
And finally, the narrator was just as good in this book as the rest.

A good conclusion…
