Contains Galactic Law and Galactic Judge, books one and two of the Galactic Law series.

Lethal force is authorized.

In the wild space of the Deadlands, Taurus Station is where miners and tourists come to play, and the ravager gangs follow close behind. Out here, far from the civilized world, the Law has a name.

Gage Walker is the son of hard-nosed asteroid miners. Brash, rough, and crude, he's one of the few deputies working the station.

Still a rookie, Walker is tasked with the security of a mining magnate's daughter, an easy job that quickly takes a turn for the worst.

The ravager gangs want her, and it falls to Walker to find out why.

In a chase across Taurus Station, Deputy Walker must prove he's fit to wear the badge and issue his own form of justice...one body at a time.

Experience this exciting beginning to a brand new series set in the Renegade Star universe. If you're a fan of Judge Dredd, Renegade Star, or Borderlands, you'll love this epic sci-fi thriller.

I had a hard time stopping—listening to both books within 24 hours. I’m ready to get books 3 & 4 but need to wait for the weekend because I know I will binge them. Only criticism is that the hero hits everything he aims at while everyone else went to the Stormtrooper Academy of Marksmanship. But no hero, no story, so it’s a small price to pay for a great story with excellent narration! Shoutout to the narrator who does an amazing job giving each character a distinct voice—especially enjoy the Irish accent. Even if you are not a military sci-fi fan you should enjoy this story—more like Indiana Jones
in space. Great bargain for a credit!

Lots of fun!

Loved it and the narrator was a very good story teller and I felt like I was part of the story.

Great police novels that just happen to be set in the future, in space, and are thus sci fi. Don't get me wrong, the sci fi aspect is really good, too. I find I get a lot of pleasure out of this type of sci fi where it isn't too over the top full of science and I can grasp and build a mental image of the technology.

There is a good cast of characters and for the initial part of the book I found myself aligning what the protagonist was experiencing with what my son experienced after the police academy and while he was in field training. The field training officer and field training is similar to and just as quirky as my son's training.

In the first book, our trainee keeps warning us that something isn't right and that kept me looking at small details I would ordinarily ignore. I got the gist of what was going on but it remained a mystery as to who was responsible for what until the very end.

There are some interesting personal details like the fact that our trainee grew up on and worked asteroid mines. He was comfortable in space and knew how to maneuver outside of a space vehicle, but got "space" sick in zero G.

All around I enjoyed this book and the characters. On to Book #2!

In the second book in the series we get to go a little deeper with the characters and get to know the greater world a bit better. Ethics and morality are big issues of the day, especially in terms of Sheriff's Justice AKA Capital Punishment. It's quite a journey of making friends, and enemies, and finding out the world isn't what you thought it was.

Battles, personal and collective, take place at every turn and caught in the middle is our intrepid deputy. As the action flows, so does the story. This is some good reading and I am thoroughly enjoying the series.

Fantastic combo of drama and sci fi

The Renegade Universe expands even further with this story. I think what I like the most about these books is that each series stands on its own while still adding to the greater whole. You can jump in anywhere and it doesn't matter. For example, Galactic Law picks up several years before the other series, but you could read this first or last. Doesn't matter. It does a fantastic job of re-introducing characters from the other series and giving new and exciting backstory, like with Fratley, which I greatly appreciate.

The audio here is really good. I've never heard of Tom Talyorson but his take on the books is great. He's got the right voice for Walker and makes the story breeze by.

Also, two books for one credit is a steal! I like how Chaney does that with his stuff. He could just release them as single books, but this is a solid deal for those of us on a budget. If you haven't explored the Chaney-verse, this is a great place to start. I also recommend the main series "Renegade Star" as well as "Nameless."
