Based on the column of the same name that appeared in The Toast, Hey Ladies! is a laugh-out-loud listen that follows a fictitious group of eight 20- and-30-something female friends for one year of holidays, summer house rentals, dates, brunches, breakups, and, of course, the planning of a disastrous wedding. This instantly relatable story is told entirely through emails, texts, DMs, and every other form of communication known to man.

The women in the book are stand-ins for annoying friends that we all have. There’s Nicole, who’s always broke and tries to pay for things in Forever21 gift cards. There’s Katie, the self-important budding journalist, who thinks a retweet and a byline are the same thing. And there’s Jen, the DIY suburban bride-to-be. With a perfectly pitched sardonic tone, Hey Ladies! will have you cringing and laughing as you recognize your own friends and even yourself.

I loved how this story was conveyed through technology such as emails and text messages. It was an easy ready for sure and allows you to really breeze through it. The performance was pretty good too. The performers really got into character and allows you to visualize how each character is. The story was a little dry at times. It was interesting but some parts were just a little cheesy. That being said, it is relatable in some ways on how girls talk and act around each other.

All together, this is a good book to listen to or read in your spare time. It's funny and will have you laughing constantly. This book truly reminds me of my friendship with my girls and how we talk to each other in real life.

Interesting and realistic depiction of girl code

This was a great listen, especially as I am currently in two weddings and living this story with two different friend groups. Literally felt like listening to my life, only in a midwestern version.

Laughed out loud numerous times

The premise is good but the email headers are read every time which makes it very boring.... Date, subject, from, to... After the 50th time it gets to you...
Cannot finish it.
Don't buy it.

Painful

Didn’t enjoy this book because of the way these women are depicted. I understand that the intended humor of the book is how shallow and petty these women are, but I hope this isn’t what people assume relationships are like between millennial women. Big let down for a feminist.
