Episodic short stories, classic sf done right!

A group of short stories following different hospital workers taking care of different alien patients. I love the hopeful/ naive optimism mixed with genuine imagination! However wish there was more of a single story thread but i will continue with series!!!! Great narration

Classical Sci-fi At its Best

James White is amongst the greats when it comes to speculative aliens and world building. Though much of the aspects of the stories are seen through a more "Vintage sci-fi" filter, one could equate the stores to classics like Star Trek (the use of empathy, telepathy, and other what we currently refer to as "metaphysical" abilities being wildly popular during the time of publication). But taking this into account The world created is seamless and makes these contacts seem natural within it. The interaction of the multi species staff through the hospital setting is both entertaining and at times hair raising. with a balance of ethics, morality, and overall interacting with beings with different mentalities.

The narrator did a fantastic job of adapting the source materia and keeping true to the characters as they were presented in the original text.

Well worth the decades wait to hear the story.

Several decades ago, I had the pleasure of discovering the Sector General books.
Over these many years I bought all 12 books and other related readings by James White and enjoyed slowly reading them cover to cover numerous times. I could never find them on any type audio medium and vowed if I ever had the means I would try to get them recorded and released for everyone to enjoy. Well two days ago during my perpetual search for who had copy rights for the series I discovered to my everlasting delight that three of the books had been released on Audible! I never thought I would get to hear them read aloud and unabridged no less. I have finished Hospital Station and it was worth the wait. Thank for sharing Sector General with us! I hope you will record the entire series.

The emotions of the characters were produced most excellently!

the narrator started out a little jerkily but as the story unfolded it became more perfect.

Long-time Fans Rejoice!

James White's Sector General hospital-in-space stories have been a favorite of mine for decades.
This book starts with an injured O'Mara being saddled with the care of an infant Hudlarian. His solutions for caring for the gigantic being are quite innovative. Then we are introduced to the newbie, Dr. Conway. His attempts to solve the varied puzzles of alien health problems are intriguing. All set against the vast complex, and many personalities, of a multi-species hospital in space. I can hardly wait for the next one!!!
