There are three kinds of problems - those that you create – they are almost ninety per cent of the problems of your life. You create them and you go on saying that you don’t want them. Ninety per cent of the problems simply disappear when you are in a meditative state – because you can see. And by seeing, you stop creating them. Ninety per cent will be solved; nine per cent will not be solved by your meditation but will be dissolved because they will not concern you at all. Seeing that it has nothing to do with you, that it does not arise in you, you have transcended it. One per cent remains. It has nothing to do with you or with others – that one per cent is part of existence itself.

Many of Osho's other books on meditation can be all about the mind or meditation techniques. This one differs in its approach and it really is my favorite Osho talk in regards to meditation. He talks about the mind and the problems on the earth. He specifically states that he works with the individual and that all the problems on earth are to be regarded as outside your control. The idea that Osho put forth was that 90% of the problems that you have in this world are self created and with more awareness you can minimize those problems. Osho used the example of a man and wife, if the man is jealous then that problem can be sorted out with meditation however if the woman is jealous than that is not the man's problem. The other 10% of problems are not your problem but someone else's, let them look to their own jealousies, dislikes and rages and you worry about your own behavior. The 1% of problems left over are things like disease, death, bad weather and other things outside your control. These are to be considered mysteries and acceptance is key to dealing with these problems. Once you have no more problems then you will have peace and with peace comes a meditative state. This will not fix the world's problems but it will solve your issues with how you feel thus giving you peace. Highly recommend this one, lots of practical advice about how to live in a mad world with a peaceful heart.

A meditative state of mind is the path to peace.
