In His Steps: What Would Jesus Do? has sold more than 30 million copies, and ranks as the 39th best-selling book of all time. The main character is the Rev. Henry Maxwell, pastor of the First Church of Raymond, who challenges his congregation to not do anything for a whole year without first asking: “What would Jesus do?” Other characters include Ed Norman, senior editor of the Raymond Daily Newspaper; Rachel Winslow, a talented singer; and Virginia Page, an heiress, to name a few.

Although the book was originally published in 1896, modern listeners will find themes that resonate with the current religious and political atmosphere. What does it mean to be a Christian and a citizen? Does the church reflect the teachings of Christ in daily life, or are Sunday sermons and hymns merely virtuous platitudes? Follow the lives of seven Christians as they wrestle with the practical implications of living the gospel.

How timely that a book written so long ago should resurface and once again grace is with it's wisdom. "In His Steps" is a beautiful challenge to the body of Christ that has grown fat and soft with complacency. We gather together in worship palaces where we're entertained for a few hours and never really enter into the presence of God. This book was very encouraging and convicting, and finished with a challenge for those who follow Christ to get out of the pews and into the public.

If My People Who Are Called By MY Name Would Humble Themselves . This book was such a reminder about how we as Christians should act. If we just do our part and treat people as God sees them this world would be a better place.

I do not read very many books, but I en
joyed this one. While not historical it is interesting to follow the characters of this book through their choice to act as they believe Jesus would and see the consequences, good or not, and then how they respond.

Very inspiring book!
