A South American pharmaceuticals company owned by powerful and wealthy businessmen begins manufacture of a revolutionary drug, which it dubs "PZT". The drug has miraculous breakthrough medicinal uses, but mutates over time into a highly addictive and deadly killer.

This breathtaking legal thriller follows the efforts of attorney Dane Ingersoll, whose client has hired him to speed FDA approval of PZT. The company secretly introduces PZT into the US market—its strategy being to press the FDA by getting influencers to boost the drug's popularity. Ingersoll becomes aware of serious problems with PZT, and plans to drop the company as a client. The company wants to silence Ingersoll and his family. Scared for his life and those that he loves, Dane enlists the FBI and others, hoping to save them all.
