The narrator is great and I will probably look to see what other work they have.

As for the book itself, I found that the character is always portrayed as just smarter than everybody else, better looking, and cooler….. and still uses the wrong words to describe things or just doesn’t understand what the are saying. For example, they just spout off the the rate things fall, 9.6 m/s then says if they made it 19.6 then they can as a writer. They then go on to say the sun would be bigger, implying the size of the sun dictates a gravitational constant. It felt like the writer had looked up the number to show the characters intelligence (as though knowing a random science fact makes you intelligent) or the writing is too clunky to clearly articulate that they could also change the sun along side gravity. This may sound a little bit nit-picky, but it doesn’t make the character feel real or believable. The dialogue is very unbearable, cliched, and just not how people talk. Additionally, unlike the first book, some of the most descriptive scenes are of sexual assault, we go into very intense detail on these things. I think it may be an attempt to use it as part of the horror aspect of the story but I think it’s gratuitous and disgusting that I have almost no idea how the world works and what the buildings, trees, and people look like but I have a very vivid detailed explanation of somebody being raped. Also the rapist just conveniently dies due to miss adventure. In a way that makes absolutely zero sense or impact to the story. The cops go to our old Mary Sue, then asks him questions implying he is a person of interest . Mary Sue has an alibi. Situation resolved, Mary Sue gets to tell the cops to fuck off, Miserable.I’m done with this book. The first book was OK and I decided to listen to the second book to see if the author can grow in their writing in a way that makes things really come to life mainly because I really like the premise. They did not, they fell into a rabbit hole and the book doesn’t really make sense anymore or holds on to what was interesting in the first place. It also doesn’t bode well to the authors dedication to improving themselves that they’ve already announced the next two books and their titles. Buddy, you should go back and get a better editor so they can put your story through actual scrutiny before you publish it.

Just a male Mary Sue character

I have loved both books, and this one out-does the first. I can't wait for the next one.
