The war had been won…or so Miles had thought.

Viceroy Miles Hunt had accomplished the impossible. He gambled the Republic, the RNS Freedom and the entire joint allied fleet in one glorious battle.

Secretly, the Zodarks plotted revenge, a restart to hostilities once their spies had found Earth. With peace achieved, new exploration began.

Opportunities at new settlements enticed. All believed the threat of annihilation was past them and with that comforting thought, Liam and his Belters headed for their new world. They would build and expand their society—giving the people of Earth an alternative to the Republic.

With its shipyard capacity finally reaching its zenith, the Republic began a growth spree and galactic sprawl like no other. Moons and planets, either newly conquered or discovered, were being colonized. Galactic trade grew increasingly important. The Republic had a war debt that had to be paid.

There was just one problem: a discovery by Dr. Katō Sakura could change everything.

The mysterious Humtars had left behind the stargates. But why did their vast empire disappear? If Dr. Sakura kept searching, would she unlock Pandora’s box?

This series stands apart from most space epics due to its meticulous research, solid footing on very real world concepts, and completely realistic and believable military core. If you get distracted or frustrated with magical and unrealistic stories about space empires, this series will be a very believable and exciting alternative to the standard.

The tie back to present day history, star trek, cup of Joe and so forth.

keeping track of all the people and places with strange names...AND because I jump in and out of the story line , you cannot expect for us to remember.... so recap and remind often of people, places, ranks and time lines. thanks and we'll done.

Solid story for a middle of a series…

The story further develops on Zodarks and finally tells more about their society. I liked the build up to the next part where story moves into the conflict with them, because now there are multiple avenues of the story except just fight/die options. Great work to transition the series into something much bigger and more complex.

Can’t wait for next book.

I like the spin on this military sci-fi. Switching from overt power struggles to spy craft is just what happens at the end of the war.
