They call him father, liberator, warlord, Slave King, Reaper. But he feels a boy as he falls toward the war-torn planet, his armor red, his army vast, his heart heavy. It is the tenth year of war and the thirty-third of his life.

A decade ago Darrow was the hero of the revolution he believed would break the chains of the Society. But the Rising has shattered everything: Instead of peace and freedom, it has brought endless war. Now he must risk all he has fought for on one last desperate mission. Darrow still believes he can save everyone, but can he save himself?

And throughout the worlds, other destinies entwine with Darrow’s to change his fate forever:

A young Red girl flees tragedy in her refugee camp, and achieves for herself a new life she could never have imagined.

An ex-soldier broken by grief is forced to steal the most valuable thing in the galaxy—or pay with his life.

And Lysander au Lune, the heir in exile to the Sovereign, wanders the stars with his mentor, Cassius, haunted by the loss of the world that Darrow transformed, and dreaming of what will rise from its ashes.

Red Rising was the story of the end of one universe. Iron Gold is the story of the creation of a new one. Witness the beginning of a stunning new saga of tragedy and triumph from masterly New York Times bestselling author Pierce Brown.

Part one is great!
it did take me a minute to get into and that is because this one is told in 3or 4 different characters timelines and I dislike going into books without knowing that. Makes them harder for me to understand.
but once I figured that out and the normal characters were still involved then I was good.
Everything is still incredible with this series.

This one is lighter on the action than usual, though there definitely is some. But the character development of multiple new characters that are slowly weaved into the the main story is top notch. Once I got used to hearing other voices of new characters this book was a breeze to get through. It was refreshing and different to hear the stories of people who are actually on the ground that have had to live through this revolution. We almost always just get the point of view of the hero swooping in to save the day and don't hardly ever get the view of the people dieing for it or the unfortunate aftermaths. I'm very interested to see what the heros do in the next book once it hits them that this world they are creating is only marginally better if not worse for some than the one they took down. Excellent writing and performances as usual.

Great character development

Book 4 - Maybe Part 2 will excite me more but Part 1 didn't quite grab me like the previous books did. I love the dramatized adaptations though. The performances are great.

Still Good but Not Great

Everything had been finely tuned and perfect with this adaptation! I can not wait for the part 2 and the other books to get the same treatment! Break the chains!

Better than ever

I have been excited to hear this book acted out for months and I was not disappointed in the slightest. wonderful narration and sound effects. As much as I love the normal version of this audiobook, this takes the cake and delivers many improvements.
Keep an ear out for extra context or jokes in the background. Absolutely excellent.

Worth the wait!
