**The Instant NEW YORK TIMES Bestseller**

New York Times
bestselling author Joseph Finder returns with an explosive new thriller
about a female judge and the one personal misstep that could lead to her—and her family's—downfall.

It was nothing more than a one-night stand. Juliana Brody, a judge in the Superior Court of Massachusetts, is rumored to be in consideration for the federal circuit, maybe someday the highest court in the land. At a conference in a Chicago hotel, she meets a gentle, vulnerable man and has an unforgettable night with him—something she’d never done before. They part with an explicit understanding that this must never happen again.

But back home in Boston, Juliana realizes that this was no random encounter. The man from Chicago proves to have an integral role in a case she's presiding over--a sex-discrimination case that's received national attention. Juliana discovers that she's been entrapped, her night of infidelity captured on video. Strings are being pulled in high places, a terrifying unfolding conspiracy that will turn her life upside down. But soon it becomes clear that personal humiliation, even the possible destruction of her career, are the least of her concerns, as her own life and the lives of her family are put in mortal jeopardy.

In the end, turning the tables on her adversaries will require her to be as ruthless as they are.

Book was good but, adding politically charged remarks unnecessary. It takes away from the enjoyment of the story

Had to add Trump toy

Somehow I overlooked this one from Joseph Finder...glad I came back to it..well done and a plot Finder makes believable, if you suspend belief as this trial lawyer did..still, an excellent read.

A great Finder read

Not bad but not as good as expected. Wimpy main character with many flaws. Decision making very flawed. Not the typical Nick Heller novel I’ve come to expect.

Not his best

I've read every Joseph Finder book. Hope there are more to come. Would love to hear more from Juliana.

I loved everything about the new book

This has got to be the best book Joseph Finder has ever written! I started listening and could not put this down with the exception of needing sleep! But then started listening again as soon as morning came.
The protagonist is a judge (Juliana Brody). She's gotten herself into a pretty sticky situation. Following a one night stand she finds herself facing a blackmailer who only wants rulings that he's sent her instructions to give. These rulings will allow a Russian oligarch to continue doing something secretive and potentially devastating here on the US.
This book isn't just an onion with all it's layers, this book is an onion farm! The protagonist is likable, the antagonist is detestable and the storyline is believable and nail bitingly fast paced. The momentum builds to a break neck speed as you get closer to the ending.
January LaVoy does a phenomenal job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS.
