Brighton, England, 1820

Amelia Moore wants only one thing - to secure the future happiness of her younger sister, Clara. With their stepfather’s looming death, the two sisters will soon be on their own - without family, a home, or a penny to their names. When an invitation arrives to join a house party at Lakeshire Park, Amelia grasps at the chance. If she can encourage a match between Clara and their host, Sir Ronald, then at least her sister will be taken care of.

Little does she know that another guest, the arrogant and overconfident Mr. Peter Wood, is after the same goal for his own sister. Amelia and Peter begin a rivalry that Amelia has no choice but to win. But competing against Peter - and eventually playing by his rules - makes Amelia vulnerable to losing the only thing she has left to claim: her heart.

Wonderful Love Story

The main characters are easy to love and cheer for. It’s only slightly predictable Because of the genre, but it was still clean with enough “spice” to keep cheering for the kiss and for them to get together.

Love the main characters and storyline

I kept checking how close I was to the end because I was so anxious to experience it. It is a simple, easy and indulgent read. There is very little drama, but the writing pulled me right into the feels! The spice is incredibly low- basically non existent and I was grateful to be able to listen to it with the kids in the car. The only mark down I could give it was the narrator’s voice for the male characters. I listened twice in a row just to make sure… but I’ll have to get the physical copy so I can read them as I want to hear them.

Simple & Indulgent in the best way

I'm so happy I stumbled upon this book by Megan Walker. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and characters and the book had a satisfying ending. This isn't the first time I've heard the narrator, Justine Eyre, and I enjoy her narration as well. I will be checking out Megan's other books.
