A well-written and smart book, well narrated

A science fiction thriller with multiple plot lines that culminate in a well-orchestrated climax. I'm not primarily a science fiction reader, but the pacing and story carried me right through this well-written and smart book. The narrator is terrific at crafting distinct characters for all the point of view voices and really brings the story to life.

Liked the Hard SciFi

However, overacted performance, too many details may seem artistic, however it became tedious. I think different narrator/reader would have been better. He had a good Mortimer voice.

Modern Sci-Fi at its Best!

If AI was produced by man, why wouldn't it be created in man's image? They would have flaws and personalities, desires, ambition, and struggle with trust. Some really cool and advanced concepts explored in this novel. The world is beautifully built with knowledge and realism. The concept of 'the machines become aware and turn on man' is nothing new. The story has been told a million times over from Planet of the Apes to the Matrix to Terminator. But this story brings a more pragmatic perspective. If AI is created in man's image, in order for AI to be inherently evil (as is often the case in sci fi) then man would have to be inherently evil. That's not really the case. We are a mixed bag and thus AI would also be a mixed bag. Great read, highly recommend.

Great book in the end.

The book started off a little slow but I'm glad I stuck with it. The technology elements were great and a neat twist. MacLeod Andrew's did an amazing job as usual.

SciFi, suspense, artificial intelligence, Humanity

This is a great well-paced sci-fi novel, with many elements coming together and plot layered artfully, skilfully, piece on piece, showing many lives intertwined. It starts off as an interesting sci-fi future and turns on the tension was full force. It incorporates a balanced look at the motivations of complex artificial intelligences, which is refreshing when the easy thing to do is to paint them all as would be destroyers of humanity. A++ would recommend to anyone interested in our Sci-Fi future. in addition it is told by a masterful voice actor, who Surprises with an endless supply of different character voices.
